Help with a conundrum
Hi all.
I have a bit of a conundrum on my hands. I have two similar, but different collections. 1 is a collection trying to get every Canucks RC, the other is to get 1 RC of every Canuck who wasn't a Canuck on his RC (Alberts, Bertuzzi, Naslund, etc)
Here's the thing though. 88-89 Michel Petit RC. He is pictured in a Canucks jersey, meaning he was a Canuck in his rookie year, but the card is clearly a Rangers card (with 'trade to Rangers' on there as well). My question to you is this.
Is it a Canucks RC, or a non-Canuck RC of a Canuck? Any thoughts are welcome on this one. I know it goes into one of my collections, but I'm not sure which one.

Besides the "traded to Rangers" what team designation / logo is idenitifed on the card? I'd go with that.

Maybe pick up two copies? lol.
If it says 'Rangers' I would call it a Rangers card.... but I don't think it's out of place in either collection.

The card says "Rangers".
He is pictured in a Canucks uniform.
The card has the "Now with New York Rangers" stamp on it.
I'm leaning towards just calling it a Rangers card and putting it in with Courtnall, Ronning, Rome, etc. The only thing nagging at me a little is tha he would have been a Canucks rookie, but his RC is a Rangers card.
Ranfordfan: My first thought was "Crap! Now I have to get 2!" haha

Either that, or do what I did! Collect those same cards but call it one collection :)

Well my ultimate goals are different in the 2 collections.
1 is to get EVERY Canucks Rookie Year card. This means RCs and any cards made in the RC year (example, Shirokov 09-10 UD Rookie Headliners)
The other goal is to gain 1 RC of each player who wasn't a Canuck on their RC, so where I'd be trying for each and every Mason Raymond, for example, I only need 1 David Booth.

Ah, gotcha. Little different in scope than me (I have not been chasing multiple RCs of anyone (with some exceptions, but it's becuase I wanted multiples of those guys for other stuff)).
Curious - you doing anything for players that never had a RC ? (I've done Heroes & Prospects, Minor League, Team Issue, etc - when a RC is not available)

So far I've only dealt with that once. Brian Glynn has no listed RC, but 91-92 is the first year he has pro cards, so I picked up a 91-92 pro set. I'm approaching it more from the RC side than the player side, so it doesn't really come up.
It's listed in Beckett that way, and he's in a Canucks uni, but I assure you, it's a Rangers card.

Have enjoyed the discussion :) Happy to be talking to someone else with a collection similar to mine!
Just wondering what you mean by Glynn having no listed RC ? Wouldn't any of his cards from the base sets in 91-92 be listed as RCs ? (Pro Set, UD, Score, OPC, etc)
