Bummed out...need advice
I bought a box of 2000-01 SP Authentic on eBay to satisfy my box busting itch. It came in the mail today and I just busted it and pulled a redemption for the Sign of the Times Triple Auto of Jordan/Kobe/Magic!! Of course when I opened the pack I saw the back of the card first with the Bulls and Lakers logos and I felt like I won the lottery, until I noticed it had a hole punch in it like all of the older UD redemptions do. Its obviously too late to redeem this card but I wanted to ask if anyone has had similar experiences with expired redemptions with Upper Deck and what happened. I find it strange that the marquee card from this set was a redemption and I dont see why redemptions would have expiration dates as they are meant to be exchanged for cards that should exist.
Let me know your recommendations of what I should do, if anything at all.

Given how far beyond the expiration date that card would be, there is almost no chance that they would be able to honour the redemption. Very unfortunate that such a fantastic card would not have been packed out.
As to why redemptions must expire:
http://upperdeck.com/Customer-Care/F...demptions.aspx
Why do redemptions expire? We need to have a start date and end date for all our redemptions in accordance with laws on these programs. We also do not have room to warehouse older, obsolete cards forever. Currently autograph and draft pick redemptions are available for two years from the release date and memorabilia redemptions are available for one year from the release date. Special programs may have different windows of availability as well.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I remember all of the older UD redemptions having the hole punch in them. I think because the redemption is the same design of the card that should have been signed, the hole prevents any fraud from happening. There is a big sticker on the front of the card with instructions on how to redeem and I am sure if somebody had time, they could remove the sticker and fake the autos which is why they put the hole punch I'm sure.

There is absolutely zero chance they'll give you anything.
If it were a 2008-2009 product, perhaps. But we're talking over a decade old.
The fact of the matter is that the expired redemptions factored into the purchase price. There's a reason those boxes are so cheap.
HOWEVER
Back in the day, the redemption cards were actually more than a mere white card with a redemption code.
With all the Jordan Hoopla, you may be able to sell the redemption to a Jordan collector for a decent sum of money. At least enough to cover the cost of the box.

I think I mentioned this in another forum, from what I gather from facebook, no licence, they wont care.
Btw, curious, if you guys go on facebook, who is this Alex Vegh person? I have no idea and if someone can enlighten me, that be great. Seems to be some random collector, but seems to answer for UD, advocate for them and know more information than what he is to know...for example, they asked some questions once, and I put down on FB, that the pens all companies use for autographs (sticker or on card) was Staedtler Lumocolor Permanent, and i got a PM from him or someone at UD telling me not to post that info as it will encourage people to buy the pens and fake autographs...
