    Wow.....

So potentially you could hit a garbage box and only get about $12.00 return on resale on this box correct?

Couple of Journeyman Jerseys or even patches, couple of Rookies that won't play, etc, another few Short Printed cards of Bums and voila, less than $15.00 Return.

That is not even playing the odds, that's simply throwing money away.

Are they still putting ugly $1.00 and $2.00 re-sale Jerseys in this issue like they have since 2001?

00-01 SP Game-Used Hobby Box Inaugural Price was $85.00 per box, it's more than doubled?

    Sheesh

Not sure where you were buying from but when SPGU first came out it was $50 a pack and around $285 a box. Never has SPGU been under $100/box.

The return value in boxes is pathetic as far as I'm concerned. These companies must just be laughing at us. I would suggest that in most products you have less than a 5% chance of getting a decent hit which covers your costs.

SP Authentic is going to be huge this year coming on the heels of all the rest of the overpriced boring products released so far. I'm going to throw alot of money at it since I steered clear of 99% of hockey product made this year.

If it takes longer to release it I can wait.

Read a couple of the posts here and SPGU is what's wrong with the hockey card market. Spending $200 on any box of cards I would expect at least one $20 card in my break, but that's not guaranteed at all.

I have collected football and recently baseball over the past couple of years and prior to this I was primarily a hockey card collector and there are a couple of things I have noticed in these 3 brands.

One thing I noticed more than anything else is that hockey products and collectors are about the huge pull. That chance to land a big name rookie or big money card that will help them add cards to their PC or they can sell for a profit for whatever reason,

Baseball and football products offer more bang for your buck and that's why you rarely see their collectors complaining about the product they are busting and every product is known for a certain thing.

For example, Bowman is known for it's rookies, national treasures is known for it's high end cards and rookie patch autos and there's something for pretty much everyone. Hockey card products can't really make this distinction and that's why you have people complaining about them all the time and why everyone is so focused on making money b/c if you don't, there's nothing else to gain from busting hockey wax.

So, to answer your question I believe that if UD doesn't make some serious changes to their products that yes indeed they will go bankrupt and be forced to bite the bullet. I expect this to take place and more products will be removed and certain products will be combined to give an overall more affordable hobby experience.
