Minnesota Wild Sign Mikael Granlund
Via Russo on Twitter:
With potential performance bonuses, Mikael Granlund's annual cap hit is $2.1 million -- per sources .... #mnwild
The Wild have finally inked top prospect Mikael Granlund, bringing to an end a two year wait that has had Wild fans freaking out and asking when he will sign so often even his mom wanted to yell at people. OK, not really, but it was pretty annoying. Today, all of that ends, and the Granlund era in Wild history begins. The Finnish Jesus is born to you, this day.

Woo-hoo! Between Granlund and Coyle, the Wild may actually have a Calder Trophy candidate this year.

Why would they do that when they have Backstrom and Harding???

Haven't you heard? Backstrom is going back to school to be a Chef and Harding is getting his commercial pilots license. I thought this was common knowledge.

You have way too much time on your hands, don't you?
Okay, I'm going to bite. First of all, there's no need for Bobby Lou when we've already got a logjam in net. Behind Backstrom and Harding is a three-way tie (or what Hank from Corner Gas would call a "triple trio of awesomeness"
) for the title of "Franchise Goaltender" between Matt Hackett, Darcy Kuemper and Johan Gustafsson. So no need for Luongo.
Also, the fans would call for blood if Granlund was traded. There would be riots in the streets, death threats to Chuck Fletcher and his family, season ticket holders would refuse to renew, tickets wouldn't sell or, worst of all, die hard Wild fans would become Vancouver fans (sorry 'Nucks fans, I couldn't resist ;) )! At this point, it would literally be suicide for the Minnesota Wild franchise.
