Will Suter replace Lidstrom?
The retirement of Detroit Red Wings long-time cornerstone Nicklas Lidstrom has increased speculation the club will turn toward free agency and Nashville Predators blueliner Ryan Suter as a replacement.
Suter, 27, will be eligible for UFA status July 1 if he and the Predators fail to reach an agreement on a new contract. As Josh Cooper of the Tennessean pointed out, with Lidstrom gone, the Wings will be willing to pay whatever Suter wants if the blueliner hits the open market.

Lidstrom is irreplaceable. But I want Weber. PLayers like Suter come and go. He's league-wide overrated. The money is there. Just do it.

I agree, nobody can "replace" Lidstrom, they can only hope to succeed him.
Going to be mighty interesting to see what the Wings do here - with the rumours of the cap going up to over $70M they can definitely pay whatever Suter wants if they go after him this summer.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

With their cap space, they'll be able to pay Suter & Parise what ever they want, as well as a possible 2nd tier player.
