The standard sized cards feature a full color action shot of the named player. Bordered in white, the card fronts have a graphic that frames the player shot. The graphic is trimmed in the team's primary color. The set name, player name and position are all in silver foil. The team logo is also on the card fronts. The card backs are all horizontal in layout and photo-less. The backs list moderate biographical information, moderate career highlights, last season and career statistics. The card backs are also trimmed in the team's primary color. Each Bowman pack contains 5 Bowman Baseball cards, 2 Prospect cards, 2 Chrome Prospect cards and 1 Gold Parallel card.

For purposes of this review I consider the base Bowman and Bowman Draft Picks to be all base set cards. The Gold cards are parallels of the Bowman base set. The Chrome cards are parallels of the Bowman Draft Picks cards.

For over 60 years, Bowman has been the go-to brand for collectors who follow the game's top Rookies and Prospects. Bowman is the Home of the Rookie Card! The 2012 Bowman edition features #1 Draft Picks Bryce Harper and Gerrit Cole. The shot selection is outstanding and this product is a prospector's dream! Not overly laden with inserts, 2012 Bowman offers just enough to keep the master set collectors happy while chasing cards. The autograph is on-card and really looks sharp! The chrome cards of course show signs of the 'chrome curl', but overall the design and quality of 2012 is top notch!

The Bottom Line:
I give 2012 Bowman a buy rating. It will be very easy to complete a base set with a box, a few extra packs and some light trading. Prospectors will get the most from out of the really fun product. Buy a box and trade your Tigers and Rickey Henderson cards to me!
