    The perfect product?

Pretending you're the card company. You can only produce one product each year. How would it break down?

Base - 8 or 10 from each team. (sorry, I like base cards of my team.)

Jersey - #'d to 300 for the 3 or 4 stars on each team.

Patch - #'d to 100 for the same players, no single color.

On Card Autographs, player doesn't return in time? No Redemptions. Do the mystery pack or box topper the next year.

    add your ideas please...

Oh, and only 25000 of each base?? I mean, how many people collect hockey cards? Did the companies do retail / hobby because of collectors, or the casual hockey fan? Retail is a silly idea now. Yeah, maybe you don't have a LCS nearby, but we have the internet now.

My perfect product would go like this:
220 base cards (6-7 players per team)
    30 rookies (numbered /100)

1 variation of each base/rookie /10 - different color then the base

    Hits:
    20 jersey cards /100
    20 patch variations /10
30 autos /50 - all on-card, one player per team

    Insert sets:
1 for up and coming stars (2-4 yr players) 15 cards /200
    1 for goalies 15 cards /200

    product hits:
    5 game-used jerseys - signed with a COA
5 game used sticks - signed with a COA
1 team signed jersey of the previous years cup winner
I collect Matt Dzieduszycki, Derek King, Pierre Turgeon (Isles only), Zigmund Palffy (Isles only) plus specific current Isles (mainly Wahlstrom, Dobson, Barzal, Beauvillier, Pulock)

Please, no more offers for tradebait. I have enough of it as it is.

630 base cards (each numbered to 300) (one card for each of the 21 players from each of the 30 teams.

The veterans and rookies which are a part of this 630 card base set are all #/300. hard-signed autos with GU monster patches.

That's right. Every BASE card contains a monster GU patch with a hard-signed auto. All 300 copies of the 630 base numbered set.

One set, one card with a GU and auto on each of them.

Then in May, release a 100 card update or series 2 set for the players that were traded or the new rookies that appeared. You could also include players that played in that year's All-star game or Olympics. Again all cards #/300 with Monster GU patches and hard-signed autos.

No inserts. No parallels. No fluff. Just GU Patch autos for every player and rookie that played in that season.

Does it matter, if there is only one set to chase?

What would you pay? It's not like the rookies are short-printed...

I think this idea is certainly interesting, how would you choose the 21 players for each team?
