    Never-ending Nash talks continue

The limited supply of available free agent talent could result in higher-than-normal trade activity.

The main name, of course, remains Rick Nash, who the Columbus Blue Jackets have been trying to move since January.

According to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson is no closer to moving the right winger than when the free agent market opened July 1.

If Nash were to say "ok" to going to a team not currently on his "approved" list, he could be a member of the.................Carolina Hurricane, as early as tomorrow. "Apparently", their offer floats Howson's boat and now it's up to the Staal boys, to try and sell it to Nash.

The Rangers keep adding players who they won't include (up to five now), the Leafs are still trying to sell people on Kadri becoming a 50-goal scorer (keep trying Burke), the Penguins have prospects but nobody that is "NHL - ready"and the Flyers don't want to gut their roster. This leaves the Sharks who still won't include Couture and basically are offering quantity over quality, the Wings - never like to give away too much for anyone and the Hurricanes.

This will be nice, once it is finally over. Still can't believe that the Blue Jackets are allowing Howson to make this trade. Why not just bring back Maclean, I'm sure he can do as bad (if not worse) a job in trading Nash away for nothing.

The funny thing is that even though Nash has requested a trade, I don't see why Columbus has to grant it? Nash committed to Columbus by signing a long term contract with them that included a NTC and then he demands to be traded. Obviously the reason is the locker room issue in having a player in there that doesn't want to be there.

Nobody scores 50 goals in the NHL (except Stamkos, Ovechkin, and maybe 1 or 2 more players). Burke is not trying to sell teams on Kadri becoming a 50 goal scorer. Maybe trying to sell them on him becoming a 30 goal scorer. Maybe they should just use him as a 30 goal scorer on the Leafs if they really believe that.

Haha, "apparently" can now scratch the Hurricanes from the list. While their "apparent" original offer of four "pieces" was good enough, Howson went back and asked for a substitution to the package - Jeff Skinner.

Back to dealing with Pittsburgh I guess (even though they don't have the right pieces), probably just to try and scare Philly and the Rangers to get back into it, to avoid having a Crosby-Nash line.

This is either going to keep dragging-on, until the start of the season or the Blue Jackets will trade Nash for spare parts. In either scenario, a poor end result for the fans.

yeah Howson is asking for such a high asking price. He wanted Logan Couture to be included in a potential deal if Nash was going to the S.J. Sharks and thankfully the Sharks management scoffed at that possibility. Looks like its a good chance that they'll be hanging onto Nash until they are forced to give him up for practically nothing and cash

Carolina would be cool for Nash with Staal's and Skinner but don't know what they would give back.

IMO, Nash is a good player.. but not GREAT.... although he's been playing with jobbers his whole life, it'll be interested to see what he does with a decent team.

If he had anyone to play with, he'd be among the top scorers the league in scoring just about every year.

We'll never know how great until he leaves Columbus. Put Nash on a decent line and he's damn sure great. Look at his Olympics and other Internationals, has played great in all of them as he has accomplished players next to him, not Thumbers.

Kind of like Sundin with the Leafs. Nash would put up more points with stars players around him. Just look at his Olympic performances.
