Did the Auto'd version #/99 not come out first? How in tarnation does it make sense that people are still waiting for the ones that just had to be made, but the ones that had to be made AND signed still aren't out to many of us.

In reply to your idea the other sports already have what you are suggesting so my question is why doesn't SPA hockey have the same things in a box? Let's compare SPA Football to the hockey product. I have busted about 5 boxes of this and each box guarantees this:
4 Future Watch inserts
1 Rookie auto
1 other auto(SOTT, future watch auto)
1 RPA
All for around $100. Every break I have seen of this product and most other SPA products in other products has bang for it's buck and you get at least one nice looking card and there are hot boxes with more than 1 RPA and 6 autos etc etc.
My opinion on why SPA hockey is and will continue to be a total dud is because hockey collectors continue to buy it. Why? Hockey collectors more than any other collector are about chasing the big hit and then flipping it for a huge profit. Money drives the hockey hobby and if you don't believe just read all the threads saying what's wrong with. You don't see these type of threads in any of the other sections on any other site so until this changes, SPA and other products will continue to be a major disappointment.

One day, in the distant future, when I have the time I will lay out my ultimate SP set that incorporates all of SPA, SPGU, and SPx.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Artifacts did well particularly due to the Emerald jersey + patch #/65 base variants + auto RCs. The idea is to load up the boxes a little more so people will buy more of them. SPGU always was a high-risk/high-reward product as it was a literal crapshoot in each box with the odds badly against you.
If they at least stop putting in the scrub RCs and GU of players that barely noticed (even by fans of that team), it would enhance any product quite a bit.

Lately I've been thinking it might interesting if UD just completely revamped some of or maybe even their entire product line. On one hand, there is a lot of loyalty to certain UD sets and brands (The cup, SPA, etc...) but on the other hand they have so many of those sets that collectors are loyal to that it seems to be stifling creativity not to mention that it's hard to meet expectations on all of them. Might as well take a chance, I figure. They've already lost a lot of good will this season towards some of their more highly regarded products (SPA, SPGU, etc...) why not take a gamble and design something completely new? They're certainly capable of it when they try. Legends Masterpieces was a great product. Champs was pretty innovative.
At the very least, I'd be in favour of them producing less sets if it meant they could spend more time on getting the ones they did produce right (better design, player selection, on card autos, no redemptions).

Got a few weeks off on vacation. In between golf and cribbage, I'll put together a giant thread about this or maybe more than one.
