Dustin Byfuglien May or May Not be Extremely Overweight
Earlier today, a photo of Dustin Byfuglien attending the wedding of Chicago Blackhawks forward Dave Bolland appeared online.
At the 5:21 mark of the wedding slideshow captured by Jai Girard Photography, Byfuglien is seen standing next to Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook and looking like he just went HAM on the buffet table.

WOW!! as a Jet fan that totally blows...but what can they do. Jets management, force him to train/slide away from the buffet? Really unfortunate because his talent/hockey IQ is off the charts....he moves well for a big man, but imagine if he really dedicated himself into being a beast of a specimen, think Adrien Peterson of the NFL!...he could be an extremely hard to deal with "bulldog rover"...

I remembered that Keith Tchachuk was suspended at the beginning of training camp one year for failing his physical (and was overweight). Tkachuk was no lightweight either.
So Byfuglien is probably okay unless he fails his physical. A team can suspend a player if the physical is failed, usually meaning a halt in pay and definitely some salary cap relief for the team (given if under 35 years old).
Byfuglien probably would be more scary if he dishes more hits than he does now. Has any player ever try to upend him?

not that I know of, apparently he is ridiculously strong, he seems to play like a sleeping giant though...only when someone messes with a teammate does he get involved, and than he just picks people up and throws them out of the way...

Byfuglien shouldn't be a defenseman. He's most effective in front of the other team's net. Everywhere else he just kind of seems to be there, but not all.

Now thats a Jumbo Jet right there, at least the lock-out will give him some extra time to lose some of that gut (or make it bigger who knows LOL)

Wow, he looks like a typical, fat-gut, NFL offensive lineman. He needs to lay-off the Pies. Some day when he's on the other side of 30, that weight ain't coming off.

He has always been chunkier for a dman but its not necessarily going to keep him from performing. that being said i would rather have a toned version of big buff on my team

A buddy of mine is an NFL O-lineman and believe me, he's anything BUT fat-gut.

Lots of them are.
NFL Football players in some key positions are not in very good physical shape. They are lucky that their trade employs a scrimmage..... 6-8 intense seconds.
They'd die on a Rugby pitch.
