    Religious questions

I have asked this question several times before and yet to recieve a straight answer so I am going ask this again. On SCF P&R there are generally two camps of people. Christians and atheists. Within them you have the majority conservative christians to the minority which I fall in moderate boderline agnostic christians. Yes there a sprinkling of jews, other religions and those who are either undecided and or agnostic. Here's the deal. Since christanity is the majority religion we will pose this to the christians but anyone with an opinion can answer. Let's say for the sake of argument that christanity is the absolute correct religion, you must confess that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and ask him for forgiveness. (Or if you don't like christanity just pretend that I am talking about whatever religion that you have in mind) If you accept any other religion or if you are an atheist you will be damned to hell for ever and ever for all eternity. However if you do accept Christanity you will be blessed on earth as well as spending eternity with God in paradise. So assuming that is true why do christians feel the need to insult, mock and be down right offensive to other religions and non christians. Shouldn't you sell christanity on the beneifts and not focus on the negativity of other religions. For example if I wanted to buy a car and went to the dealership and the salesman kept going on and on about why I shouldn't by a ford because chevy is better he still hasn't convenienced me on why I should by a chevy, he just talked about why he hates ford. Most people who believe in any type of God look as God as their spiritial father. If you christians come out and insult Allah (what muslims call God) how is that going to convert anyone? If someone is successul in their business, marriage and their kids are doing well in school but they are following another religion you need to find a better way to convert them. If anything your insults will make them cleave to their religion more. Let's use this sports analogy. Let's say that Bob's favorite team is the NY Knicks and he wants you to become a Knick fan. You are a Laker fan. Bob comes out and say you should switch over and become a Knick fan because your daddy is a deadbeat and sucks as a man. What? Bob is lucky if you don't haul off and punch him in the face. Remember in salesmanship it's not what you say but rather how you say it. Just a little something to think about. Again anyone is welcome to chime in with their opinions. Thanks.

while i think you and i sometimes disagree on what constitutes an insult, i wholeheartedly agree with your post.

Wow that sure takes that fun out of this since we agree. Just kidding. Let me also call some but not all of the atheists out there. I haven't forgotton about you. Some of you treat atheism as your religion even though some of you hate everything that religion stands for. Some of you even go as far as attempting to deconvert people who believe in God by using the same taticts that christians use. Again if you are going to try to convince someone to follow your way of thinking insults and personal attacks do not work.

I think the idea that any one group holds all the answers to salvation is naive at best.

That's really all I have to say, though I agree with the point you made.
