For fun, I think a box like the new artifacts is good. Only $100 and it has great memorbilia hits as well as plenty rookies and number cards. Its the first hobby box to feature 12/13 rookies (besides OPC and score) http://www.dacardworld.com/sports-ca...ckey-hobby-box

And if you like taking risks, check out SP authentic. A lot of people hate this box, but I personally like it. Fir $100 you get 3 autos and some inserts but this is one of the only products to have players like Gretzky, Lemeiux, Messier, etc. http://www.dacardworld.com/sports-ca...ckey-hobby-box

If you want to spend exactly $150, or a little more, then check out panini prime, one of the best products of the year!! http://www.dacardworld.com/sports-ca...ckey-hobby-box

Some of the above suggestions are right on. I'm not a huge contenders' fan because the value just isn't there. However for the price it is a solid pick up.

I would personally say go for the new Artifacts though. Good variety of memorabilia, chance (albeit very slim) at a decent auto, couple RC's and parallels. Just a nice mix of everything for a good price.

Thanks for the great suggestions! I'm starting to lean heavily towards Artifacts partly because of the fact that it's a 12/13 product.

I'd probably chip in a few extra bucks and get 4 older ITG boxes. You can find 06/07 + 07/08 H+P and 07/08 BTP for $35-40 through a few online sellers on either side of the border. And they still have the big name players in GUs/autos, outside of Gretzky.

But then again, 90% of the limited number of boxes I buy are ITG, some people prefer Upper Deck and, even, Panini. But ITG usually gets my hobby box $$'s.

This is also a great suggestion! Any specific websites that you know of that sell old ITG?

Yeah from the breaks I've seen, Artifacts looks like quite a fun bust. The only downside IMO is there are too many parallels.

Honestly? I've seen 2010-11 Luxury Suite for right around $75 a box. This was originally a, what, $200 a box product? You get 8 hits per box with 2 being autographs. A chance to hit Hall, Eberle, Seguin /199 RPA's. I think that's pretty solid value.

That actually seems like really good value! Have you ever busted any 10-11 Luxury Suite yourself?
