Why Liberals Are More Intelligent Than Conservatives
Harriet Hayes: I don’t even know what the sides are in the culture wars. Matt Albie: Well, your side hates my side because you think we think you are stupid, and my side hates your side because we think you are stupid.

It is difficult to define a whole school of political ideology precisely, but one may reasonably define liberalism (as opposed to conservatism) in the contemporary United States as the genuine concern for the welfare of genetically unrelated others and the willingness to contribute larger proportions of private resources for the welfare of such others. In the modern political and economic context, this willingness usually translates into paying higher proportions of individual incomes in taxes toward the government and its social welfare programs. Liberals usually support such social welfare programs and higher taxes to finance them, and conservatives usually oppose them.

I've seen similar articles to this. All I know is what I experience in my own life, and I have to say that I know many smart conservatives, and a lot of dumb liberals.

Me too and vice versa. This idea that stupidity or genius can only exist on opposite sides is the stupidest part of all of this.

I find that Liberals and Democrats have more transformational nature. I would agree with you statement partly.

That I do agree with. The right is largely made up of one type while the left is made up of everyone else. As such, there is going to be more solidarity on the right and more willingness to cooperate on the left. This is why the right sees real bipartisanship as weakness and it's also why the left has so much trouble getting anything done, both in government and within their own party.

All I know is that social liberal principles make a whole lot more sense than conservative principles.
FOR EXAMPLE:
I did a thread where I wanted to see if there was any good reasons why gays should not be allowed to marry.
This is a social liberal principle....we believe that gays should be allowed to marry because it is the right thing to do, they deserve equality just like us heteros.
The conservative principle on this matter is to not allow them to marry and their arguments all rely on religion which is a complete fallacy to even argue on and still they persist on it.
If Conservatives want to act in this manner than they are NOT using logic or rationality and thus they are branded as "stupid".

Hate the article. It points out one part of being human that hurts our species the most(we are all guilty of it). Group thinking.

Yeah I actually posted a similiar article a while back. There were scientific studies that suggest that conservative thinking that often times leads to racism, sexism, homophobia is caused by lack of intellegence due to a smaller brain. I can dig that article up if anyone is interested.

I really don't think you can really differentiate smarts by what political party one affiliates with or by who is more liberal or conservative. There are plenty of smart people and dumb people all across the political spectrum.

I agree with you. If people think the party you align with determines your intelligence, then those are people I'd rather not associate myself with.Hidden Content
