I think Gallup has been rigging it's polling data...
I just read that Gallup has decided to skew its polling data in favor of Republicans, because they expect a turn out lower than 2004 and 2008. So even though national registration numbers show numbers along the lines of 38% Dem 30% Repub and the balance independent or other party... they have instead been polling as much as 10% more republicans than democrats in their national daily tracking polls.
THIS is why when all other polls show ties or 1 or point leads either way (usually in Obama's favor)... Gallup was showing a 5-6 point lead for Romney.
Considering they had Obama up as much as 7 points about a month ago with this same method of polling.. you have to wonder if this election is even as close as people think it is. As a Democrat this was encouraging as I used to trust gallup, but now I am questioning their ethics this year. My personal experience is voter turnout (at least in FL) is WAY UP from where it was even in 2008... but we will have to wait until Tuesday to find out I guess.

Polls are predominately useless. You'd be better off caring about other things, like good beef jerky.

polls drive me crazy because they could be a great source of data, but they are not.
i would bet obama is ahead and increasing his lead everyday.
i first had hope for romney being a potential president that could help our country, but as i learn more, i find he is not even close to what we need.
i just got a great flier from obama in the mail, if he did what he says he will on the flier, we would be better off this time around, but i have to be honest and say, i have little hope he will do what he says he will do, plus with congress blocking, and who knows what will happen in the senate next time around.

It comes down to Gallup being the only group with the funds to do a poll correctly. In order to get a poll with 1000 likely voters you may have to call 9000 people. That's why you see for "rolling 7 day polls" because the pollsters get out on the cheap calling 200/day to get 600 in a week.

I have been watching the Huffington models which are pretty good
They pull in ALL the pools just not Gallup, You can rill down into the number and see thats really happening and make your own conclusion
My own opinion is that Gallup numbers are off and well the there is NO reason to use the National poll number expect for approval numbers and such

Polls are just like mock drafts. They are fun to look at but are usually way off when its all said and done. I don't let the polls influence my voting in any form or fashion.
