    Look Deep Into The Mirror.....

    Really now....

Are you a Collector, or are you the next star of Hoarders? Hmmm.

I looked into the mirror in 2002 when I had 650,000 cards and I said; "Son, You are a Hoarder!"

Funny thing is, I had a much easier time in getting rid of over 500,000 cards since then. Now I hardly seem to chip away at the last 15,000. The calmest waters are always the deepest.

Buyers are getting slim these days. Too many cards on the market, heaps of choice like there has never been before. I am glad that I don't have 3/4 of a million cards today, as I'd never be able to get rid of them.

    Imagine if you collected CATS.

Wow thats a few cards to have in your possession. Funny thing is just the other day my girlfriend asked if I was going to end up on some kind of hoarding show with all these cards that I have taking up space. I'm still new to the hobby and I would say I'm easily under 1000 cards so I don't want to know what 650k of them look like all in one spot.
Well done trimming down the collection

The only ProSet Cards I own are Jagr Rookies, and Konstantinov Rookie, along with a few veterans, but less than 100. Mostly the cards I had were scads of McDonald's Base, Tons of 1992-1996 Bowman, Leaf, Ultra, Donruss, Pinnacle, as well a a 200,000 or more Upper Deck from 1990-2002.

Funny, I've been downsizing a bit lately and it's brutally hard to do! I have monster boxed full of 90-91 Score, 90-91 UD and tons of earlier commons. Not a ton of value, but, I have no idea what to do with them or how to unload them. They're covered in dust and haven't been looked at in years (the high end rookies stuffed inside go for about $2 each so, I've just let them sit). My 'core' collection keeps growing but, I've got it at about 700 cards or so. Totally manageable in my opinion (not neccessarily my wife's). I do keep sifting through it and auctioning off some here and there. Hmm...might be time to take another look...

I got rid of some of mine during December via hospitals with sick kids. Especially in Canada, If you can find a sick-kids hospital, call them. Kids that are there for a while will even tell the hospital which teams they cheer for.

If needed, they will also issue you a Charitable Donations Receipt to whatever monetary value you attach to the cards within reason.

I collect base cards (Series 1+2) and cards of good retired players so the problem with my collection is quantity>quality. This I don't believe will be a problem though as I just want a few cards of around 500 retired players so hopefully get there at some point. And I try to keep them organized by keeping them in binders (by yr of retirement, etc) so that it can actually be viewed and take less space maybe, I hate having them buried in a bin or shoebox type of thing where you don't really look at them and enjoy them.

If anything I'm looking to get more bases lol, thought I'd even do custom card designs for others in exchange for retired player bases on here.
