You should take a stepback take a deep breath and get a hobby maybe.Nothing wrong with questioning things but you question life and your eistence on earth,or if there is an earth,a god,a religion. You can question things but you question why y ou took your last breath and who is responsible for it.Maybe you should watch other tv stations and read from different authors just to het a different perspective. You don't have to agree but it will give another point of view

And yet the majority of christians, muslims, jews, and most other religions KNOW this answer.
They are intellectually dishonest with themselves and everyone else....and this is what makes them so dangerous.
I'm still waiting for them to be honest and say...."hey, we don't truly know the answer to these questions, however; we have a firm faith because it makes us feel good and it gives our lives comfort and direction. Our belief is grounded on comfort and faith not knowledge or evidence"
But NOPE....the vast majority can't do that, at least I would have a good deal of respect for them if they did.
Because it matters.
Because being truthful with oneself is much more important than being blissfully ignorant/delusional.
And the truth hurts.
For example...It hurts me to think that one day my loved ones will die and I will never see them again, their only proof that they existed will be in documentation and memories.
It hurts me to think that I will also meet that dreadful fate.
But I have come to grips with reality, I embrace my mortality and even though I very much wish to live forever, I know that believing that I will with zero evidence is the same as believing that I'm a millionaire without actually having the millions with me.Last edited by JustAlex; 02-27-2013 at 01:38 AM.

Who says they know where he came from? Saying he claimed to have no beginning and no end isn't knowing where he came from.

^But do they seriously consider that?
They are comfortable with what they perceive to know.
They perceive that god is real, that he has always been, that when they die there is an afterlife, that god is the judge of where you will go in said afterlife.
That's it.
This is the quintessential religious theist.
And like I said, they are intellectually dishonest.....they can't know these things, just like I can't know that god really isn't real.
But by claiming that they know....they lie to themselves and to others.
I'm not trying to insult anyone directly here, but when a christian goes around proselytizing to others....they are no better than a snake oil salesman.
They are selling both the disease and the cure....their alibi will be that they truly care for this particular person and they really mean no harm.
And you know what? I believe them when they say that.
And that's why I don't hate religious people....I hate religion.
But there comes a point when you have to use that logic which is inescapable to everyone.
Will they admit they are possibly wrong?
or will they shrug it off?
You and I both know what the majority do.
I came to this inescapable logic and for awhile I did in fact shrug it off, until I couldn't anymore, and now as an atheist I can be intellectually honest and say....I fully admit that I am possibly wrong in my assertions.Last edited by JustAlex; 02-27-2013 at 02:21 AM.

maybe they are comfortable with what they don't know. maybe some think it is ok to not have all the answers. maybe they realize they will never know where God derived from so they spend their time on stuff they may obtain knowledge of, rather than waste their time with things they can never know.
and our the Christian any worse than those who go around spouting there is no god and religious people are dishonest with themselves?

It shouldn't hurt you to know that they will all die. We all die. Is finding out if God is atheist or not going to change that?

I think it's an interesting question. It's pretty much answerless, but doesn't mean people don't have thoughts.
I'm not sure why people are getting offended by the topic. If I believed in a creator it would cross my mind where that creator came from even if it's impossible to know.

I'm not offended, I just don't see the point is all.
You said it best twice...Pretty much answer less and impossible to know.

if it was just a question, then why post negative things about people who believe?
