Sounds like a story about a FATHER, not "boys in blue". If I think my MISSING daughter is in your home, trust me, I am coming in too.

How are you going to run up in someone's house unarmed?

How old was the daughter? if she was under age, all he had to do is call the cops and they would have searched the home.

Last time I checked, all that was required to "run" was a pair of legs. Why would I need to be armed? So I can inadvertently shoot someone?

He is the cops. Your concern for your daughters does not turn off at any particular age.

no, he is a detective and does not have the right to do as he pleases, even when family is involved, there is laws to be followed.

I can understand what he did, but he lied about it, making his actions less admirable.

If she is of age, then his choices would have been limited, but if she is underage then the cops will search the place for him.

I'm not sure where you are from but where I'm from running up in someone's house unarmed is not the smartest thing to do.

I'm sorry. I didn't realize detectives are not cops in the States. I never said what he did was right. I also was unaware that police will enter a home based on the testimony of a father alone. I would think they would need probable cause of imminent harm or something regardless of the girl's age. In the heat of the moment the guy did what he thought he had to. He lied about it afterwards. So what? It speaks more to his expectations that his lie may be believed than it does to the fact that he lied.

And running up in someone's house ARMED is smarter? Let's think about this. I run in armed and the homeowner shoots at me. I die? or, he misses and I fire back killing him? Stop me when I reach the "smart" part.
