Isn't the purpose of an alarm system is to notify the police? So it goes back to this. Someone runs up in your house and shoots your dogs. You have an alarm system that goes off but the police never show up. What recource do you have? You have no firearms and per Parker vs the District of Columbia the police cannot be held legally responsible if they never show up. What are you to do?

No the purpose of an alarm system is to alert everyone within earshot that an alarm is going off. No fools are stupid enough to break into a house with an alarm blaring throughout the neighbourhood. That gives my line of defense a chance at succeeding and protecting my family. Your defense (one gun against many) just means the perpetrators have no alternative but to use deadly force because you escalated the situation to that level. And guess what, your one gun against their many means you and your family are now dead. Congrats!

Not if you know what if you are doing. How many street knucklehads actually have any firearms training. No thanks but I would rather take control of my own life than put it in the hands of criminals, a corrupt police dept or an alarm system that when it goes off most people ignore.

Do you guys even read what you type? A "bunch" of thugs with guns against one of you (trained or not) doesn't stand a chance. Is your wife packing too, how about your kids? All targets for the guys with multiple guns. And yes, felons do care about alarms. I don't live in the wild, wild west. Felons have one thing in mind when committing a crime; don't get caught. Alarms threaten that.

yep, they don't stand a chance against me, but I am not concerned with myself, I am more worried aout my elderly neighbors who cannot defend themselves.

when the cps finally show up, will they be leaving their guns at the station?

how long is the average response time for police?

I am unsure of the stats, but SOME people who own guns for defense are not paranoid or scared, they are just responsible.
