    COMC.com

Could sales dip now on there now with today's new feature of requiring you to purchase a Beckett sub if you want to compare BV with the sale price of any cards?

Very doubtful. Beckett has been backup bathroom paper at best for the vast majority of the hobby for several years now.

If COMC had a brain, they would not use the term BV, Just use the term PV - Perceived Value or Potential Value, even if it is the same as Beckett's price, they could not get you in court in a million years.

Nobody has pushed Beckett on the proprietary value of cards that they are calling their own, each and every time it's used. They would lose easily in any court. A judge with half a brain would tell them, you don't want anybody to use a suggested price, then don't publish one.

Getting ready to send 500 cards to them myself. Couldn't care less about anything with beckett. Their prices mean squat to me.

    this isnt a ebay/bv thread.

It is a beckett/comc/ bv thread and the same answer applies. Most people decide what they want to pay for an item, not what some arbitrary irrelevant magazine tells them to.

I don't see it having an effect. If I can get a card that I know is at a lower price than other venues, or if it's rare and the price seems reasonable to me, I will purchase it.

thanks for the input Rich. I was wondering how many people based their possible purchase on the book value . As not everyone is that in depth to cards to where they belong to sites like these. So they may just accept BV as the price. Which is possible since I do sell a bit of cards at full BV on ebay.

If they know of COMC, they're "in depth" when it comes to cards. LOL

It's a mixed bag for me - I want them to be successful and get more sellers and buyers as it makes more cards I want to buy available, but I also liked having it as a hidden gem that I could keep in my back pocket.

But if you use the option to sell on Amazon, those buyers are probably less astute than a typical COMC user or forum member.
