Moved to a more appropriate forum.
As to the question, I don't know what you mean with the first card. Is it a custom that got signed by Tavares?
I don't see that being a fair deal unless you really want a Tavares auto that somebody created themselves.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I'm not 100% sure what the Tavares/Orr is but if it is some kind of custom I would say in terms of value no.

If the Tavares is a team release (which it sounds like it is), it's going to have limited appeal and value. I would not trade a Gagner Tag /5 for that personally.

I'm going to take the other road on this one.
If it is actually an official team release with a certified autograph, I would make the deal.
Tavares is a stud, he will most likely have a huge career ahead of him and has already done great things with Team Canada during his junior career and holds multiple records at the junior level.
Gagner has hit his stride, he is a second line player at best.
We are talking an SP auto which is most likely VERY difficult to find, vs a Patch/tag card, not even auto'ed that will be made at least once a year (5 copies) for the next few years, not to mention the 20 or so that are already available from previous years.
In 10 years, will anybody really be after hard to find Gagner cards?
I guarantee Tavares collectors will still be looking for his stuff, and a hard to find gem like that would most likely be pretty sought after.
It's not like the kid can go back and play in the juniors again, so what has been made is all that will be made, whereas his pro stuff is being pumped out like vanilla soft serve on a hot summer day.
Just my opinion, but in the long run, if the tavares is legit, it will definitely be a better investment.Last edited by adamslogik; 08-04-2013 at 03:47 PM.

You make very good points! Another factor is that Tavares had an illustrious OHL career becoming the first ever OHL player to be granted with exceptional status to play as a 15 year old and also being great statistic wise (433 points in 247 OHL games).

Again though, what is important is that it is a certified auto. If the COA is something that can be printed off by anyone at home, stay faaaarrrrrrr away from this deal.
