What is it with conservatives and their love for the crappy presidency of Reagan?

I believe it went something like this:

GOP Headquarters:

GOP moron #1- "Hey guys, now we all know the country hates our guts, we're incompetent, buffoonish, and massive hypocrites.....but we need a new face to our party!"

GOP moron #2- "Well, we don't need a NEW face (seeing as all the current GOP big names are just as stupid and incompetent as Bush)....how about an OLD face?!"

GOP moron #1- "YES! EXACTLY! An old face, one who has already died and we can warp his history into being aligned with our pathetic ideals!"

GOP moron #2- "But who sir"?

GOP moron #1- "How about Lincoln?"

GOP moron #2- "Err....although he was Republican, he wasn't a conservative sir....remember back then the conservatives were the democrats who wanted slavery to continue and thought Lincoln was wrong in wanting to free the slaves and blamed him for all the country's problems including the Civil War!"

GOP moron #1 "Ok, ok, ok.....fine, let's jut go down the line of previous GOP dead presidents.....REAGAN!"

GOP moron #2- "REAGAN! the guy who did Amnesty to immigrants in 1986? The guy who raised taxes on MANY occasions? The guy who negotiated with terrorists? The guy who wanted more gun control? THAT GUY!?!?"

Why blame a man that is guilty of only one thing. Not backing the Shah of Iran, or taking Muslim Clerics seriously enough. I don't know why Reagan is the patron saint of Republicans, he was less effective than G.H. Bush as a President, and didn't come close to Gerald Ford in anything.
