Current Selanne Auto's? The Cup?

Hey good people, does anyone know whats up with Selanne, I checked ebay for a CUP AU, nothing, think I have seen a few sticker au's on newer Panini stuff but not what I like, maybe he signed exclusively with Panini??

I think you have to go back almost 10 years to find something that Selanne hard-signed for UD - which makes me think that anything like last year's Black Diamond..... they're still working with very old stickers.

They likely did something to sour him on working with him.


He is not exclusive to Panini though. No active player, under group licensing, is allowed to be exclusive. Doesn't meant they have to sign for more than one company (that's they're own choice) but they can't sign an "exclusive" deal, the same way that Bobby Orr or Wayne Gretzky do.

Selanne is also signing for ITG though, so its not just Panini. That he's signing for two of the three manufacturers.... and has been for a few years.... it makes me think that either UD is not interested in him, or he is not interested in UD.

He has never signed a card for a Cup release, 05-06 to current.

Checking SCF's inventory - I see 41 Autographed cards that Selanne has ever done for Upper Deck. This includes "multi-player" cards, so if you eliminate them, you're down to only 32.

The most recent was an Emerald Auto /10 from last year's Black Diamond (sticker) then several BAPs (lots of mult-player there) in 2009 and 2006. He was in Artifacts back in 2005, had a single auto in 2003 Rookie Update, I think all of this stuff was stickers.

It's probably been a long, long time since he sat down with UD.

In general, his autos are rare. I settled for the 11-12 Crown Royale Scratching the Surface auto. Also not my first choice, but with so few out there, and with their rarity and the costs going up in his final year here, at least I've got a hard-signed auto of the guy at all! Right now, no doubt your only avenue might be to nab a Panini or ITG auto of his. I'm not sure he's signed for UD since.... ever? Anyone know about that?

Looks like he's in some of Panini's higher end sents (Dominion) so I would assume some of those are hard signed? Decades 90s just came out from ITG, and he's in there too.
