Future Value of Panini Basketball Boxes
With all the redemption cards in Panini Basketball products the past few years, when they expire will the prices of the boxes drop? Is this bad news for people who enjoy opening older products, as many of the star autos are redemptions? Or good news, that the boxes may become cheaper? Thoughts, opinions?

Do the boxes really become cheaper after redemptions expire? You would think that but I don't think it is the case. There is usually a change in price shortly after a product comes out now it seems. It either skyrockets or tanks in price. Then after awhile it continues on that same path until it reaches a tipping point where it stays until it becomes so hard to find that the boxes hit such a premium that they aren't even worth it to open anymore.
Unless some rookie from these years gets hot or some other anomaly I don't think these boxes will age well. The only reason why older basketball stuff was going up in value is because people were searching for the rare 90s inserts. Before that craze that stuff was becoming quite cheap. Stuff is different now because of the autographs and game used but I doubt that stuff will ever be like the insert craze so if you can't pull star autographs and the game used isn't collected why pay a lot for the box?Selling all my cards here updated as of May------------> Hidden Content

the other thing is soo many products only have rookie autos so there is no chance at pulling star player autos,so as stated above unless the rookies are great the product will go down in value.

Plus the rookies for the NBA have been very weak over the past couple of seasons in my opinion. You seem to have great draft classes or total busts now which render those years with busts practically worthless.

Too bad Jeremy Lin hasnt lived up to the hype! Lol! If panini had Jordan and Lebron maybe their stuff would hold value as it got older. Unless they land someone who can compare to MJ/ Lebron it will never happen. KOBE is on his way down and they've flooded the market with his autos.

Lin is still doing pretty good for where he got drafted, too bad he did not stay in NY.

Jeremy Lin was never drafted. He was signed as a free agent by Golden State.
