Think the Isles got the short end of the stick there.

Moulson may score goals but he needs someone to do the work for him. Sad to see him go but they're getting a proven scorer in return.
I collect Matt Dzieduszycki, Derek King, Pierre Turgeon (Isles only), Zigmund Palffy (Isles only) plus specific current Isles (mainly Wahlstrom, Dobson, Barzal, Beauvillier, Pulock)

Well, you can always trade talent, but rarely can you trade for chemistry.
Iginla on the Penguins would be an example.

I'm not saying Vanek will be a total failure, neither Moulson for the swords, but it's definitely a risk.

Wish the best to both. If it works, Vanek and JT on a line is gonna be scary!

    1st round pick in 14 2nd in 15.

I think the Isles may have lost this trade. Moulson did a lot of work for the Isles and is Vanek going to do that and a lot more? I do not think so. That's a lot to give up for a UFA. If Vanek scores 35-40 Goals then the trade may not be so bad but I do not think he will score that much. Vanek will also benefit Tavares aswell. If Vanek helps the Isles make the Playoffs then it just may be worth it! We will see

As a Sabres fan it's tough to see Vanek go. Always one of my favorites. That said this is a real good return for him. Since Moulson is a UFA, he might be flipped for more picks at the deadline as well. Sabres clearly in rebuilding mode are stockpiling a lot of draft picks and potential talent. Potential talent has to start working out, but certainly promising.

Whos says Vanek will be playing with JT? I can see Bailey and KO playing with JT so they can pair Grabner and Vanek together. If I was Cappy, the top 6 would be:

    Bailey-JT-KO
    Vanek-Nielsen-Grabner
    PMB-Regin-Cal/Nelson
    Martin-Cizikas-McDonald

Not specifically JT. It's still hard to say if Vanek will play well with any of them.

But, still, I hope it works out.

And Matt Martin on the 4th line? I don't think so....if anything, I'd want Clutterbuck and Matty Marts on the same line.

But then again, I'm not an NHL level coach. lol

That Martin-Cizikas-McDonald line consistently plays together. It's the energy line. Cal looks lost on the ice. I have season tickets and all I've seen him do is run around trying to hit people. Not even make plays.
