Soup Kitchen rejects help from atheist group to help the homeless....

    http://www.mediaite.com/online/soup-...re-an-atheist/

So, we're talking about charities in the other thread, and supposedly religious charities are better.

Here is a Soup Kitchen in South Carolina run by a christian church....however, an atheist group was also trying to pitch in and give some care packages to help the homeless.

The care packages consisted of things such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, wipes, deodorant, gloves, socks, soap, razors, and gum....ABSOLUTELY NO ATHEIST MATERIAL! In fact they said that they had no interest in promoting atheisim one bit by doing this, and they wouldn't even wear their atheist shirts while giving away the care packages....

So how did the Soup Kitchen react to atheists wanting to help?

    Well...here's their response:

    ^LOL!

I though your ministry was to help the homeless and people in need?! Obviously it's not, because you rejected the help of your fellow human beings because they don't agree with your religious beliefs.

It's funny how we were just talking about this very issue on the other thread, about how religious charities don't do the things they do to help UNLESS they have some religious agenda behind it.

I will now have to stress that NOT ALL religious charities are like this, but here is a perfect example of what I was talking about.

    And for your enjoyment:

though I would not turn away help, all you have to do is read their mission statement to know why this happened.

We seek to serve the poor and homeless of our community

by sharing the love of God and giving them:

    Food for Their Bodies,

    Kindness for Their Souls, &

    Hope for the Future.

so they do say they are religious based.

    Ok.

And does this not prove the point I made in the other thread?

That religious charities (NOT ALL, but definitely SOME) only do the things they do to push an agenda?

I think this validates my claim.

Of course some do. I'm sure there's atheist groups that only do things to push an agenda also.

when 2 groups of stupid people meet this happens.

I'm sure the non believers went in there just because this was a religious organization.
If your goal is it help people in the name of God and you do not let people who do not believe help then you are not helping people in the name of God.

Only one stupid group here, and you need help if you don't know which one it is.

Just because you identify with the group doesn't mean they don't act with stupidity. Stop pretending atheists can't be self righteous jerks. They most certainly can and do.

I don't identify with anyone. I do identify with helping people that need helping out, no matter who does the helping. There is no self-righteous story here, just facts. I watched the video, I read the text. If those aren't the facts, then by all means let me know them.

I am taking this issue at face value, nothing else. This Lou person has stepped in it, I didn't do that, he did it to his-self. He has made this issue into a political football for little gain. I don't know why, some people just cannot help themselves.

Would you identify yourself as an atheist?

    Thank you.

    I don't identify something that I am.

The only time in conversation that I stand-up is when people take it upon themselves to start to pontificate to others about needing christianity or the lord, without anyone asking for such assistance. I get in their face and tell them to mind their own business.

If people mind their own business, there is never a need to know that I am anything but a human being.
