Ranger fans...Expertise needed!
I am trying to identify a patch embedded in an Eric Lindros 12-13 The Cup Monumental Patches 1/1 card.
It appears that the patch(es) are from a Rangers jersey, but they appear to be vinyl rather than sewn-on twill.
The letter "R" (from "R"ange"R"s or Lind"R"os) has no seam stitches visible at the color changes. Did the Rangers use vinyl heat-press letters on their logo or nameplates?

In the other photo you can see the reflection of the flash in the red striping, which you wouldn't get with twill, but you would get with heat-press vinyl.

Here's the auction, with larger photos.

I realize this card is a 1/1 and the value is based on the low print run and not necessarily the quality of the patch. But am not sure I want to spend that much for a replica jersey patch or practice jersey. (PS - If they use vinyl lettering can it even be called a "patch"?)Last edited by Drewk86a; 11-01-2013 at 04:58 PM.

I agree it is probably a nameplate. The part I'm struggling with is that the card appears to have vinly iron-on letters and not sewn-on tackle twill
I'm beginning to think these pacthes have been faked. None of the Monumental Patches listed on eBay feature nameplates. They all use the logo or team crest.Last edited by Drewk86a; 11-02-2013 at 06:33 PM.

I had a Jagr card that was the similar to what you have. Not sure if it would have been from pre-season game or not

Seems strange. Should be possible to contact UD about it?

I had a Rangers Shanahan 'H' a few years ago, same thing, looked to be an iron-on

I´m pretty sure those letters with the vinyl come from the name plates of jersey´s used in training camp/pre-season games, only. For their regular season sets the letters were sewn directly to the jerseys, two layers of tackle twill, no plate.
