This actually plays into something I've thought for a while. People fought and died for our freedom. Society forcing everyone to honour them steals freedom.
Counterproductive? I'm just thinking out loud here.

Who's forcing who? Where is the force?

Society forces it through means such as shame. Obviously no one has a gun to their head, but society deeming people who don't do so something worthy of shaming, as seen above, is a societal show of force. Society does carry a lot of weight.
If you don't understand the question, just move on. Better to keep quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

So your saying that society is trying to put Obama through a guilt trip for him ignoring such a major day/event in US history. Gotcha.
He surely didn't miss MLK day this year. Had no issue of being in Virgina this week helping someone get elected...
All about agenda and personal beleifs and views.
I guess sometimes you need to stop blamming others for what he does or doesn't do... Until then, you're just part of the problem.

Not at all. If you go back and read, I'm saying society does it to everyone. In fact, I didn't say a word about Obama.
I'm just going to say that sounds racist. I'm not saying it is or you are, just that sounded racist. Again, I said nothing about Obama. I spoke of society. Had you read, you'd have noticed the name "Obama" missing from my posts. Maybe you got distracted by the colourful picture? That's called a segue. They do it in TV all the time, so you should be familiar with it (though I'm not sure how often Duck Dynasty actually employs it...)
It sure is. For example, I asked a question about society, and you made it about Obama observing MLK Day. Funny how that works.
You shouldn't be blamming anything. It's destructive.
Blaming on the other hand, I won't say either way. Partly because your poorly constructed sentence is difficult to understand, but mostly because I wasn't talking about Obama. Why are you?
Better to keep quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Insults on top of insults on top of insults.
God, thank you so much for not letting me be so angry in life. I would hate myself so much if the only self worth I got out of life was to put people down that I never met before.
God Bless you Wick. I will pray for your anger and pray that you can find a way to make yourself feel better then to only put people down you don't know.

So you think me pointing out that you completely missed the point of my post and made it about Obama for no discernable reason is an insult?

I don't think anyone is forced per se, but the president is dependent upon the armed forces to be there when he needs them, the least he could do is show some respect for the ones who died in the service of his predecessors. Asking a group of people to risk/give their lives when you request it of them while expressing no respect for the sacrifice of the ones who died before them in the same capacity shows contempt.
