I don't support subsidies for anyone. Taxpayer dollars are supposed to be used to run the government (military, tax system operation, government branches, etc.). If I had my way everyone who has income would pay the same tax rate and there would be zero tax breaks, rebates, provisions, credits or exceptions.

Not a few short month back you fully supported the welfare given to big oil. hmmmm

Actually what I said was that if the subsidies were taken from oil companies then the end-users (that is you and me) would pay higher gas prices, so whether they get tax dollars or they get it at the pump, they will still get it. I don't support subsidies, I am just not naďve enough to think that you can eliminate corporate tax breaks and not end up paying more for the same products.

Some people like yourself fully support eliminating corporate tax breaks and giving more money to the poor with no ability to comprehend that the corporations will just raise prices causing everyone including the poor to pay more for products and services. I am fine with eliminating big oil tax breaks as long as you are fine with poor people paying $5-$6 a gallon for gas.

the facts are, giving someone hand outs does not fix anything, people have to work, which means we need jobs, and who creates jobs? I can tell you that 99% of people on welfare do not create jobs

Wow. Whoever made that should learn to put effort into his or her work. That's just sad.

Giving money to wealthy investors and calling them "job creators" does not create jobs either. It goes both ways.

Like I said, no ability to comprehend reality. Whether it amounts to a hundredth of a cent per gallon or .10 cents per gallon in loss for the oil company, they would use it as an excuse to raise prices significantly. Need proof? Two words. Hurricane Katrina.

Also, in 2011 the U.S. used 134 billion gallons of gas. If your $50 billion statement is correct, that would result in an increase of .37 cents per gallon, not hundredths of a cent...that alone pushes gas up to or over $4 a gallon without even considering the extra that oil companies, distributors and local gas stations will tack on just because they can.
