    Become a Card Show Dealer

Distinct thread. Same objective, different vision, background, Coke vs Pepsi, same objective.

In the early nineties a sixty year old new found collector became a regular card dealer in Montréal. Still around today, he has missed only two of the over 175 card shows I have run. Today he is 82 and did our show last Sunday. Age is never a barrier to becoming a card show dealer.

A fair number of dealers, various ages, started doing our show, some went on to do major shows - Toronto, twice a year, others stayed local, some failed. Succes, failure, points in between are a matter of recognizing and working an opportunity.

Have a number of plans and scenarios that will make you a successful card show dealer. Will share them with you even if you never do my show.

    Qualifications:
1.) Sell on eBay. If the total of your fees, related charges and added postage totals $100.00 a month you will be able to participate in at least two Sunday card shows if the driving distance is within two hours. You will also make more money for your inventory and efforts plus you will develop viable contacts.

2.) If you are a collector who has extra inventory to trade or sell, you will make more by renting a table and selling on the dealer's edge then coming to a show and transacting with show dealers.

3.) If you have a store or set-up at an arena or flea market, setting up at an out of town show will allow you to move stale merchandise for fresh stock without the shortages that deep discounting creates.

4.) If you have a collection that you wish to sell, shows are a very viable option if properly organized.

Glad to answer questions, offer suggestions.

Would you suggest selling a collection to a 'dealer' or consigning it to someone like PWCC?

Not enough details provided to comment with specifics.

If you can manage it and have the time reducing the profit of others always has certain advantages. Sufficiently large collection, probably from the weakest items moving up the scale, using all options strategically.

From what I understand, this is a great show worth setting up at in Montreal. I hope to visit everyone the next time I'm in Montreal. Good luck!
