Police are stupid morons if that tattoo causes a testosterone surge to their loins. This has nothing to do with pro-gun, or anti-gun, but everything to do with a lack of common sense by inadequately trained police.

It is stupid that this became an issue. It is even more stupid that the police would respond to a guy with a gun tucked in his waistband while telling people to get off of his property by showing up with assault rifles and starting a standoff.

Did you guys read the story? The landscaping company reported seeing the gun. The police arrived and the guy had already gone back in and went to bed. The police were acting on the only info they had; reports of a gun. If most tattoos aren't stupid enough, one of a gun tucked in your pants, is incredibly ridiculous.

The problem is that unless he brandished the gun or threatened someone with it then they grossly overreacted. If a report was made that the threatened them with the gun (which he clearly couldn't do) then they need to charge that person with filing a false report.

If I am in a lift bucket/ladder trimming branches in the winter and a man comes out of his house bare chested, yelling, with what appears to be a gun tucked into his waistband from a hundred feet away, I might feel threatened and consider that "brandishing" a weapon. Do you have any concept of how a "reasonable person" acts?

You might think it is brandishing a weapon, but under the law it isn't. Brandish means to wave or threaten with. Tucked in a waistband is neither waving nor threatening with it.
And if you are on someone else's property while you are in a bucket/on a ladder then you are trespassing and they have the right to tell you to get off, even with a gun tucked in their waistband.

I would assume they were on the public road/ditch where telephone poles and trees like to congregate. As for "threatening". If a man takes the time to show his weapon, he doesn't have to wave it around for it to be a threatening nature.

Did YOU read the story. It says they were on his property.
It's a total failure on the part of the landscappers followd closely by the idiot with the tattoo and the least offensive party were the police who were doing their job.

His property and the ditch by the road could be one in the same. I really don't think that is the issue regardless.
