    Can losing be winning ?

With so winning teams looking like missing out, and a couple losing teams making the playoffs, I started thinking to myself.
Has a losing team ever won a division title ?
Has a team ever won a divisional title and not made the playoffs ?
If not, what's the worse win % you know that did make the playoffs, Hawks currently on 43% ?
Dallas are looking square in the face of 60% and not making the finals, what's the highest % that didn't make the Finals?

I don't know the answer to any of your questions but it is an interesting thought. Do you believe that the NBA should take the top 16 teams to the playoffs regardless of whether they are East/West?

I don't like the regional sepearation of conferences. Wish it was like MLB and NFL.

Weren't there just 2 divisions before? You had the East and West and then they were split into 2 for a total of 4? Seems there are more divisions in sports than there ever was or at least that I can remember.

Seahawks won their division a few years back going 7-9. Can't recall any NBA teams winning their division below .500 though.

I think it should be the top 16 only.
Pacers and Heat will get an easier ride to the finals than the Western champs, doesn't seems fair. They both should get through the first two rounds in eight games and then play 7 against each other.
In theory all 8 teams from the west in round one could go 7 games, and round two will most likely go 7 games and the last round also being 7, meaning before the even face the East, they could have played 6 more games, traveled 6000 more miles, had no time off and be feeling sore, while the Eastern champs will be sitting back.
Imagine if only power house team existed in the East, they could get to the finals on 12 games and meet a very battered opposition in the finals.
