I don't even know why Randy Johnson was batting here. Must have been spring training but with interleague play not around yet and the Mariners in the AL with the DH why would he need to practice hitting?Selling all my cards here updated as of June------------> Hidden Content

Interleague play began in June 1997, and 1998 was Randy Johnson's last year with the M's, so he likely did bat some as a Mariner.

True but the card is from 1995. No real good reason for the Mariners to risk batting the Big Unit then other than for a laugh.

Ah, I didn't know the years of the card. Looks like a laugh is what they were going for then, and they got it.
The other possibility is that Upper Deck found a hole in the space-time continuum and traveled into the future to get that picture. Given all the shenanigans UD has pulled over the years, that wouldn't surprise me much.

It had to be a spring training game, most likely at an NL park where the pitchers would have to hit.

Greetings:
Those who wonder who the top picture of is Legendary voice of the White Sox broadcast and former Cubs Announcer as well Steve Stone ya gotta like the white guy trying to do a great impression of Oscar Gamble & Coco Crisp. Also can anyone find the UER on the George Brett one & to think thats perhaps the meanest he got before the Pine Tar game plus ya gotta like his Fu Manchu mustache.

The 1997 Fleer Metal Universe set was panned by a lot of collectors when it first came out because it was too kiddie and thought outside the box. But I think some of them are the nicest looking base set cards from the 90s. The Ripken and Mueller are pretty much the same design but both are incredible in terms of design.
