The 1997 Fleer Metal Universe set was panned by a lot of collectors when it first came out because it was too kiddie and thought outside the box. But I think some of them are the nicest looking base set cards from the 90s. The Ripken and Mueller are pretty much the same design but both are incredible in terms of design.

I totally missed this set when it came out. When I came across one in a box that was given to me last year, I loved the design and had to have it. Put the whole set together in a few weeks.

It is a really great looking set. With the sci fi and super hero themed element to the set I'm surprised nobody has thought to have brought back something similar to this with the popularity of comics and super heroes now due to the Hollywood movies.

I'm pretty sure Liz Banks is a pretty woman but this painting of her and Ernie Banks makes her look like a man. I thought it was Ernie Banks in a dress the first time I saw it.
