I'm surprised so many people in favor of Shero. I thought his job the past couple of years was terrible. His in season trades to acquire Goc, Stempanik, Iginla, Morrow did nothing to help the team. He continues to draft defenseman, yet he signs Rob Scudari for 4 years at $3,375M. He signs an offensive defenseman $7,250M who is a better forward than defenseman.

They have about a half of roster for next year with about $16M left on the cap. They are so up against the cap, we are stuck with the main players and a bunch of fill ins. They need a big forward to play with Sid and not just more little fast guys.

I really think what Burkle and Lemieux did with letting the next GM made the call on Bylsma is a cowardly act. They should have started fresh the day after elimination. I'd imagine the next GM is going to give him a year to improve or he will be canned. Somethings just never change.

Hindsight is 20/20. You have no idea what a bad GM does. If you wanted to see a bad GM you should have looked at Mike Gillis.

Stop thinking that you should Auto-Win Cups just because you have Crosby.

I never said he was a bad GM. I said the last couple years have been terrible. It's time to move on from him!

Who ever said they should Auto-win cups because they have Crosby??? I think you throw statements out there to get a reaction.

Give this same Pens team to a guy like Larry Robinson and he wins 4 cups in a row. Byslma has been found out, now it's up to whomever is chosen to fire his butt.

It does not take a new GM to fire the problem, that is the franchise's major error for this era.

Now your telling people what to think! Jazuss!!! And I agree with his post, after being completely swept buy the B's he stands pat with his run n gun style team that has Zero chance in the Play-offs!

Where is the GRIT!! Toews has Hossa and Bickle flanking him...Crosby has old and soft Kunitz and Bennet.lol
Lemeiux had Tocket at least! Neal is one dimensional, and not a tough player...

Where is the shut-down defence-man who can add offence and intimidate? Orpik? lol Martin is all they have!

Where is the youth? Quality draft picks that can support? Guys like Shaw, Saad and Kruger?

Shero lost Hossa and Staal and has done nothing to replace them....just sitting there hoping he can ride 2 super stars to a Cup, Terrible job!!!

And yes, Gilles sucks, irrelevant to the Penguin's lack of success. Get a clue!!!

    Well where to start....

The Pens have plenty of Grit Vitale, Bortuzzo, Orpik, Engelland, Glass. Only 2 of those guys found their way into the lineup Another great job by Bylsma. Kunitz does just fine with Crosby scoring 25+ goals a year. Kunitz soft and old? Yeah right only guy the pens have that goes to the front of the net and does the dirty work.

Orpik is a shut down Dman and is a big hitter. Martin had a bounce back year played really well this year.

Youth? Maatta and Bennet. Pouliot wil be up next year. Despres, Harrington, Doumlin in the minors. But yes I agree draftuing is not Shero's strong point.

Lost Staal gained Pouliot and Sutter. Lost out on Parise in FA. Added the best guy out there in Iginla last year. Traded for Jokinen gave up nothing.

The point about Gilles is that there are not many outstanding GMs out there and Shero is one of the better ones. Who else is available that is better? I cant name anyone.

Its hard to make moves when there is not much cap room available. Shero has done something every year to improve the team, Traded very well for the most part and Drafted not too well. Bylsma's system is terrible and it shows against the good teams over a period of time.

I take it you disagree lol. Fair enough...I'm no fan of Byslma's either, although if he is trying to go with a puck possession game, the players you mentioned simply are not up for the job.
I would contrast what Stan Bowman has done successfully replacing support player's after their first Cup compared to Shero. No contest.

Kunitz, a good goal scorer, but he is small and 33 years old, maybe not soft, but in no way can he protect Crosby from the incredible abuse he took against the Ranger's. The Penguin's are simply too Small for play-off success.

Assistant B's GM Jim Benning is available and many teams are interested including the Canuck's so if the Penguins want him, they had to act fast, hence the firing of Shero. But...it is just a theory of mine, nothing more.

    cheers
