Upper Deck to Produce an American Hockey League Boxed Set
http://www.beckett.com/news/2014/07/...gue-boxed-set/
While the league was represented on cardboard through the Heroes & Prospects brand from In The Game for many years, trading card licensing from the Professional Hockey Players’ Association went into a virtual state of limbo before the 2012-13 season began. Luckily for AHL fans, there will be a mainstream release from Upper Deck hitting store shelves in a just a few weeks.
Each box will contain a complete 100-card set along with five autographed cards. Several of the prospects have appeared in NHL products already and collectors will be familiar with names like Martin Jones, Tomas Jurco and Jake Allen. Also making an appearance is promising young prospect and former first round pick Ty Rattie of the Chicago Wolves, who is a part of the St. Louis Blues organization.
Expected to be released on July 29, the 2013-14 Upper Deck AHL Hockey Boxed Set is sure to give prospectors something to get excited about before next season’s NHL products start hitting the market.

Probably not going to be a fan of this. This product will not come close to what ITG can offer and money will go there. I can see this product becoming a major fail for UD.
This could be a good sign though that UD is trying new things.
This could be UD pushing ITG or UD running on last resort for ideas lol.... Probably the second one.Flickr: Hidden Content

So basically its a Sticker dump of AHL players with a couple of decent prospects? Guys that UD probably has sheets of stickers from that never panned out and are playing in the AHL and UD just needed a way to clean up inventory and will throw in a couple bigger prospects/kids just to get the slightest bit of interest.
A UD version of H&P but without the Game Used.
This stuff is going to collect a lot of dust on card shop shelves and warehouses.
With that said I'll still look to pick up a couple Griffins Autos.

They could at least do their research and know that Ty Rattie was not a first round pick.

I can't see how this will even come close to H&P, but I guess it's good that they're not just sitting on the license in an attempt to keep ITG down?

To give them at least something of an out, he was the Blues first pick in 2011. But yes it was in round two. LOL
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

It might be a fun break in a year when discounted to 30$/box.

And would also cost a small fortune. My understanding is that Gretzky Canada Cup jerseys from 1987 don't exactly grow on trees.
