Post First Look: 2013-14 Panini Flawless Basketball

    http://www.beckett.com/news/2014/08/...ss-basketball/

Back for another year, 2013-14 Panini Flawless will once again offer up 10 cards per pack and the results are expected to be jaw-dropping once again – and so, of course, is the price they are expected to sell for. Each pack is actually a small padded briefcase that will contain six autographed cards, two Jumbo Prime memorabilia cards and two Jewel base cards. Every single card is numbered to 25 or less and they are expected to be chased heavily.

Panini released their product information sheet recently and noted that every base card will be slabbed. It appears that there will be several different designs with different types of gems, including a Platinum version that will contain a diamond.

Good looking cards. I like that Bird patch. Check out the shorts on Bird and Malone compared to Curry. The NBA has come a long way with style. It's still hard for me to swallow the price point on this product without Michael Jordan and Lebron James signatures. I know we hear it every year, but they're arguably the two most collected names in basketball. Pay the money to wrestle them away from Upper Deck. I've come to resent UD for signing these two athletes to exclusive contracts. After talking to other collectors, I'm not alone.

The white borders are smart. Too much chipping on the full bleed and black borders. Centering is harder to determine without a frame around the card. That kills two collector big collector complaints.

The league greatly improved when John Stockton retired and nobody else was left to wear short shorts
