What do you do with your damaged cards?

I have a few damaged cards and I mean much worse than a bad corner! One was a Rik Smits cars that got bent in half by a toddler!

The collector in me doesn't have the heart to throw them out and I obviously can't and wouldn't trade them! So what do you guys do with damaged cards?

If they are as bad as the Smits you mentioned, I will toss them out, even if it's PC. If it's one dinged corner, I will hold onto it, at least if it's PC. If it's stuff I want to trade, I'm a little more particular since most people want at least NrMt. Some minor corner damage, then, but not obvious dings. Some minor creases OK.

As of yet, I haven't had anyone complain about any damage of cards I've sent in trades, at least not any that didn't get mishandled later in the mail by accident.

Funny you bring this up, I recently went through my junk box to make sure there weren't any keepers. Sometimes I'm extra picky, but nope, all the GU's had creases coming off the window and 95% of the base/serialed had surface scuffs/scratches.

All of mine are in a cigar box (no I don't smoke)... and like you I don't have the heart to just dump them. I thought of maybe making a collage/poster out of them. IDK, the hardest is the serial numbered cards or the ones you really really need to fill that gap in a PC. I'll probably chuck them all soon except for this one that still hurts, crushed when it arrived :

Collages are cool; I've made some in the past with unwanted cards. I also have sleeved some extra Thunder cards and taped them to my Thunder card boxes. I even send some unwanted cards as protection during trades. Just do something creative and useful like that, especially with those low #ed cards. Ugh, don't want those to go to waste.

I wonder if there have been any people who have had to throw out a 1 of 1 for example because it was too damaged. MathewLee's is /6 and that just hurts my heart looking at that :(

I returned a 1/1 once. A Topps Gold poker chip I got off of ebay. Thing was beyond scuffed, looked like someone had played street hockey with it. Stunk to have to return it since I was going for the rainbow but, I couldn't. I'm a pretty serious collector but not desperate.

As a teacher I wonder if some of my student's would want them, I know the younger ones don't know how to handle cards anyways so they might not care what the condition is like. I may try it as a reward. Collage is a good idea too.

What do you mean by custom braswell10?

They work well as rewards. I've given them out before for that purpose, particularly back when I was a student teacher (I'm a sub now).

I've also done that before but never with damaged cards! Hopefully the kids won't mind lol
