Actually it was a hobby store from Canada that listed SRP.

The price sounds pretty reasonable, which is going to mean there's a good chance you can get something that's more of a high end card, for a mid-range price.
I get why people don't like this idea for a set (it's why show stamped cards are not nearly as popular as "regular" cards). I would expect these "Vault 1/1s" will not fetch the same price that a similar /9 card would.
I also understand the reasoning behind it. What else are they to do with that inventory of cards? toss 'em ?? Rip them apart, retrieve the memorabilia, and make new ones?
It's a good way to get the cards into collector's hands, without changing the print runs from the original release.

Simple math here. If the boxes are around $100 USD a box and you get four memorabilia cards it equals $25 per card. It should be a better return in investment than most products.

As a fan of the original Superlative releases, there's the potential here for some pretty cool cards to be acquired.
Some of you people and your agendas to constantly push your own negative projections get very tiresome. They're not back-dooring product on to the market. They're not slipping cards to a connection and magically cards that we'd thought we'd never see are appearing. It doesn't matter what ITG/Leaf do, it's wrong to you and you need to tell everybody online about it. Move along.
It seems that in each ITG/Leaf-related thread we get to re-hash the same discussion over and over and over again. Let's keep the conversation focused on the product and what it offers. We don't need constant reminders about product limitations due to licensing. We all know it because you've seen fit to remind us all in 80% of your posts.
The cards will have a unique indicator on them so that you know what you're getting--there's no mystery here and there's no subterfuge. You can choose to purchase a box, or not. If you liked the original releases and couldn't get into a box due to price point, this is a relatively low-cost alternative. And you still get a shot at a Maurice Richard Complete Jersey as well as whatever other cards get inserted into the product. Hopefully we'll see a checklist prior to release, and the fans of the Superlative brand can then make their wantlists and go out and have a good time.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Does this mean there would be similar releases for other titles in ITG catalogue?
I'll be honest, this price point works really well for someone like me as I don't really have the budget to bust a lot of wax.Last edited by subban7677; 03-14-2015 at 03:33 PM.

Actually ITG already did use a pile of shields recently https://prezsez.wordpress.com/2014/0...-guest-ticket/ ... I don't know if that was their entire stock or if there are more to come but I don't think we'll see any in this product as this looks entirely to be previously released Superlative cards.
I'm pretty excited for this release, love ITG products with lots of goodies and no filler, at a reasonable price point too. I'll be sure to bust some, maybe do another free break for the community :)

I don't think ITG is allowed to insert NHL shields into their products without a license, otherwise they would have been doing it all this time.
Those Badge of Honor cards were giveaways at a VIP event or something, and are very clearly designated as such on the back of the cards. I think that was their way around it because they did not profit from them.

They already did this with Ultimate Memorabilia and other sets for the Expo redemption program last November.
