2003-04 Fleer cards missing serial numbers

Has anyone seen various 2003-04 Fleer serially numbered products that actually don't have serial numbers?

I'm currently bidding on a 2003-04 Fleer Showcase Legacy card of Kobe Bryant that actually doesn't have a serial number. I was wondering why the bidding price was so low. I've also picked up a 2003-04 Credentials of Pau Gasol that didn't have a number. Months prior, I bought a 2003-04 patch of Dwyane Wade from Fleer Showcase that also didn't have a number. All of these products are normally numbered.

I'm wondering, were these among the "extra" cards that Fleer ended up releasing to the public when they went out of business in 2005 and had to liquidate? This was right before Upper Deck picked up their license.

You're on the right track with Fleer and the bankruptcy auction...

However, the 2 sets you listed I am unfamiliar with being involved.

03/04 Credentials is the acetate set?

Hmmm, yeah I've never seen those un-numbered but as you can see from my other post Fleer did some kooky things with a lot of sets.
If I had to bet, what you've found/bought are legit.

Fleer auctioned all of their duplicate cards intended for replacement if damaged. Unfortunately these cards are not part of the original serial set and are in abundance. There are cases of masterpiece cards having multiple copies without a 1/1 stamp.

The bulk of those were the GU/Patch/Auto cards that were later sent to PSA.

2-5 base parallel sets also made it out with only 2-3 in their entirety surfacing in over 10 years.

I highly doubt there are cases of masterpiece cards for several additonal reasons...

Where did you hear this or get that info?

Someone snatched up the Kobe for $26 after all - I think only a few were aware of it still being a legit (if less valuable than the stamped version) card; perhaps some unaware of the Fleer bankruptcy were afraid to bid because they thought it was counterfeit.

Anyway, I see these pop up on occasion. They aren't in especially high abundance. They make for some unique collector items.

Interesting. Definitely unique, always a fun/mysterious topic.

I have over 60 of the PSA Proofs as well as the unverified cards I listed in post #3...

Any oddball stuff is always great to add!!
