    I heard about some collector who once collected over the stated print run of a particular card. I think it was over 150 copies or so. Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. It's rare, but it's been pulled off a few times.

    That is probably the guy who took Topps to court for overproducing stated runs. They weren't numbered individually. That was back when they would print "1 of 30" or "1 of 50" on a card, stating that only 30 or 50 were printed. The guy collected something like 35 of (I think) a Jagr card that was printed with "1 of 30". He took Topps to court, and they claimed that they were extras made for replacements that somehow got out of the Topps office. Not sure what the exact ramifications of the case were, but it caused Topps a lot of problems at the time. Think it was sometime in the 90s.

    He ended up winning about $175,000.

    Well, a little off on the number, but at least I got the player right. Not bad for something from 20 years ago.
