OK, learned something today. I always just assumed The Cup were GU because everyone always goes ape over them. Can't see why people pay so much for them now if they aren't GU. All that is then is an auto'd card with a piece of garbage with it. "Event" worn jerseys are nothing but manufactured crap. OK, so the guy touched it -- supposedly -- ! I seriously doubt most of them actually were touched/won by the actual player. With the amount of material put out in Premier, they must have each worn about 100 jerseys. Maybe they just threw a bunch on the ground and had the player roll around in them.

Thats kind of like saying you wasted your money buying the cards in your signature. In fact, Upper Deck isnt even trying to lie to you about the cards .... they are telling you that they created these out of nothing. They were in no way touched or in contact what so ever with Hertl ..... we basically got some bored people in an old folks home to sew these things together.

The Cup says event worn ..... the cards in your signature dont even say that =S

I like Cup RCs, if I could afford all the superstars I would for sure own them .... thats my preference. You like what you like .... including manufactured patches ..... thats your preference

Dont like them, thats fine .... no ones making you.

There are enough people on this site telling us we trade wrong, sell wrong ...... collect wrong.

I believe the only Cup RCs that are stated to have real game used pieces are the Crosby and Ovchkin.

On a side note, I believe the only other high end RC Au Patch to have real game used pieces is the MacKinnon National Treasures True Rookie /99.

The mack nt /99 is event worn also.

Well. I didn't exactly pay $300 a piece for those cards. I paid about $30-$40 each for the letters, and they are signed, so they had as much "contact" with Hertl as a Cup RPA for 10% of the price. I never said I wouldn't buy one. I just would never pay the ridiculous prices that most Cup RPA patches go for, for something that was manufactured.

It doesn't matter what the companies put on the back of a card because nobody reads the back anymore. All anyone cares about is what it looks like. And the companies know damn well that when a normal collector sees a patch/letter/jersey card, then they "assume" it is game worn. And as long as the sheep continue to pay $500 or more for a patch RPA, then UD can continue to charge ridiculous prices for their boxes. And no, I do not yet have a Hertl The Cup RPA because I wont pay a couple hundred dollars for an auto'd manufactured patch. I may pay $40-50, but the prices haven't dropped that far yet. I will wait til they do.

Maybe I'm like a weirdo or 1 of the rare people, but I enjoy checking out the backs of my cards, sometimes you find some cool stuff on there, and specifically (despite all the negativity towards them) I always liked that ITG cards told you exactly where the GU piece came from.

I've found some interesting facts by reading the back of my cards, but that's just me maybe

I really liked ITG's info on the back as well. And for your second reason that's why I've really had fun breaking Ginter baseball and reading all the non-sport card backs. Actually educationamaling to read.

Well, I'm not so excited than before. Yeah, solid Cup cards, but nothing new. Hope there's a few Gilmour's anyway, like always. Still.. Cup is CUP!

I think youre confusing the 2.

The manufactured letter / number marks state they are manufactured. The Cup stuff states it is event worn ..... you seem to have them both in the same category.

I believe you can have Hertl Cup RCs in the $300 range now, maybe even lower ( havent done research but I would assume a very bland patch would sell about here ). Theres no way you would only buy 1 letter ..... H E R T L 4 8 .... so you paid close to $300 for the set.

Its a waste of money for suckers to spend $300 on an event worn rookie auto patch, from the highest set produced each year ...... but its not a waste of money to spend $300 on manufactured insert auto patches from a mid range set.

Lets face it, its all a waste of money ..... but its what we like to waste our money on. You can keep calling people stupid for spending their hard earned money on what they like ..... but dont go out and spend your money on something equally stupid, like it isnt all the same.

I also believe players like Justin Pogge and Louis Leblanc still hit $100+ for their Cup /99s. Im sure Radulov still almost hits $200. At this rate, your never going to be able to get a Hertl Cup

Imo The Cup is the most ironical product on the market. It's the most expensive to crack and the most affordable in the secondary market (considering what you're getting) I'm referring to HOF autos and giant patches, sticks, etc. I don't collect RC's so cracking the cup isn't for me. Though collecting the hell out of it is LOL.
