Awesome recommendations! Glad to hear you had some sweet hits.

Cloutsnchara are fantastic, as well as Breakaway, 643 BoxBreaks, and Out of the Box Breaks all come to mind when selecting fair and honest dealers. I found all of them on breakers.tv

Would I do it again? Yes! It's the only way I collect now.

I've bought team selects and done well and been fortunate enough to hit edmonton in a few team randoms and landed a Mcdavid each time! for $50 a break (my average break) it's a lot of fun!

I rarely break due to my budget, but if I do, it's through an online group breaker

    I had too... ;)

Great info guys, thanks for sharing. Any other recommendations on how to find a group or case break? And the money that may be needed to do them? Anyone do baseball breaks? I actually meant to start this post in the baseball thread! Still good info either way, thanks!

Group Breaks are fun, but don't get discouraged if you don't get anything in a certain break. There are many times you'll go hitless, and there's other times you'll spend $10 and hit something huge. It's a gamble, you win some and you lose some.

There are all kinds of breaks. Cloutsnchara does some crazy expensive ones like $249 Team Randoms, all the way down to Team Select breaks where you can pick teams for $10. So it depends what kind of break you want into. If you want Edmonton in any Team Break this year, it will be crazy expensive. But if you just want to pick up a random team in a Team Select break like say Minnesota, you can probably get them for $15 and roll the dice. There are all different price points and types to get into so there's pretty much something for every budget.

I would check out http://breakawaysc.com/ as they are the guys I typically use as well as Cloutsnchara. They do probably around 3 group breaks a night, and have a good variety of randoms, team selects, high end breaks, and affordable breaks. Plus the guys that run them are class acts and overall good people to do business with. Tell them Derrick (geschrocks33) sent you.

Also another question I saw - you typically only get the Game Used, Autos, Inserts, or Rookies. No base is usually shipped (unless it's a high end break like Ultimate, The Cup, etc.) where the base cards are serial numbered and considered hits.

The top 2 I'd recommend are http://breakawaysc.com/ and Cloutsnchara.

(Also, mods if I'm not allowed to share the links feel free to remove them)

Seeing as everyone's getting their 2 cents worth in about reliable breakers... All of the people listed above are reputable. I would also add in Imperial Gardens, STL Sportscards, Rev 10 and myself as other reputable breakers. ;) I don't do as many as I use to though, just eBay boxes & release night case breaks now as that's all the time I have. Shop around though, prices vary WIDELY on the same product with some large breakers charging a premium for their reputation. ;)

Generally for hockey I use breakawaysc and outoftheboxbreaks. Check it out on breakers.tv, depends on what your looking for or whats breaking. Good deals tend to arise if you are watching live and they can't sell teams they can lower the price a few dollars to get it moving, or do lotteries to win the team which can lower the cost. Big box mixers are fun, but loose boxes can never guarantee that case hit. Try to do a master case of a product if you can instead of half case inners.

I did my second random group break with BreakawaySC last night... managed to end up with Edmonton!
But sadly in a break of 5 boxes consisting of:
    1 box of 15-16 Buybacks
1 box of 15-16 Full Force
    1 box of 15-16 Artifacts
    1 box of 15-16 Series 1
    1 box of 15-16 MVP

I only ended up with one Connor McDavid Full Force 'Blueprints' card and one Eberle.
It was still fun though and I recommend BreakawaySC!

After reading this yesterday I decided to try my first ever group break today. Breakaway was running their 12 days of Christmas break that had 10 boxes in it. 15-16 series 1, artifacts, full force, and buyback. 14-15 ice, and the cup. 13-14 spa, prime, the cup. 12-13 the cup. By the time we had opened the first 7 boxes and only had the cup boxes left I had hit 3 insert cards. But on the second box of the cup I hit 13-14 foundations quad patch auto of Nathan McKinnon numbered 2/5!!!!
