    2015-16 Upper Deck Champs

Just saw on another site that Upper Deck Champs is returning: http://www.beckett.com/news/2016/03/...champs-hockey/ I know lots of people liked this set, but I wasn't really a fan, especially of the mini cards. What do you think? Are you excited about this release?

'Excited' might be over stating it.

Champs was pretty unique at the time, and I can appreciate that, even if I wasn't a huge fan. I really wanted to land one of the dinosaur fossils, never did. I had fun putting together the Presidents / Prime Ministers subsets from the first release.

How into this one I'll be, it will depend on the checklist. The natural history stuff doesn't interest me much, and mini cards (vs regular sized ones) I don't consider to be all that appealing.

Weren't there issues with UD being able to ship those fossil cards across the border?

    Champs is back!

Actually, I really like the non hockey stuff. If the insets look good, I'll do the non hockey sets again, especially if there a Canadian focus.

Not everyone is into rookie collecting. I'm very slow, so I can't trade rookies fast enough when they're in their prime. I need to have cards that keep value over long term for trading, so a set like this where there some rookies, some vets and some non hockey means, I can hopefully trade away the rookies for something else while filling my collection.

June 29th is far enough away, so we'll see on price (another 100$+ a box I bet), but if anyone pulls any non hockey stuff, send me a PM!

    Cheers,
    Reoddai

Some cool stuff in there but not one of my favourite products. I did enjoy putting together the Presidents and Prime Ministers from the first time around. If they do that again I may do it again so that I can add a Justin Trudeau card to my PC!

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

That might just be enough to drive me back to my youth and the bicycle spokes for deserving cards. It will probably make for a great picture and it will generate plenty of sound but not much else.

I am actually kind of excited about this product depending on the checklist . I don't collect the latest and greatest RC's and have been generally bored with UD's offerings so far this year , so something "different" might be good for me .

I'm so excited for this release. I really like the look of Champs cards, very unique and I think this product could have something for everyone as it's fairly broad. Also, the bigger base set and unqiue set of inserts is fantastic. I wish every product was like this, make for more variety among us collectors, with still containing the tougher finds such as the SP base cards, and some other tougher pulls and ratios as well. Although it might not catch everyones fancy, I think this is what the hobby needs right now.

    Can't wait!

I actually pulled a redemption for a fossil card and it was shipped to me in Canada. I was told originally they could not ship it because of the dna on it or something like that but I did get it. Sold it to a dealer for $100-$200 range. Was quite a while back.
