Question about card grading
http://s32.postimg.org/83i4557xh/BRpv2_0002.jpg
Folks,
I'm collecting some 2006-07 flair showcase, and my first card I've gotten about 7 years ago.
Now, one of them has what looks like a tiny snowflake (grey) area around a quarter centimetre in diameter about an inch to the right of his ear.
Out of curiosity, what impact would this have on the surface grading of the card?
This is not dust, it's probably print error or discoloring.
See link above for the image.
Feel free to speculate, but do help me out on this!
Thank you.

Dont worry about it-it`s nothing. There is a Luc Robitaille on Ebay right now with the same spot. The cards were made that way. If you check the rest of Ebay I am sure you will find a lot more.

That's true,
I've seen many with that sort of thing, but to me it does negatively impact the appeal of the card.
So for my PC I do try to avoid them if I can.
Do you think these can appear out of moisture or temperature? Or that's how they are right out of the box?

I think they are made that way and is not taken into account when grading. The same with the McKinnon YG`s with the pink spot on the shoulder. Also the McDavid YG that they graded with the YG foil stamped over his name on the card. It got a BGS 9.5 My self-I dont think it`s right. If I buy a gem mint BGS 10 I want a perfect card. To me -where do you draw the line as to what they clasify a defect in the card or a defect in printing. Wide open to interpretation.

It wouldn't make too much sense to not consider printing imperfections, because that would mean centering shouldn't be taken into account, right?
I mean, the scan doesn't do justice as it's less visible there than in person. Stands out quite a bit more than in the scan I think, but maybe I'm easily distracted.
Initially I thought the surface would get an 8 as it's absent any visible scratches and such. Was looking to see if others have any similar experiences.

Here is a better example of what I meant:

Would this be similar to a printer's spot? You know, those weird circles that appear on the more "vintage" cards? (for any younger folk in here) Because I'm pretty sure that would ding the score on "surface", would it not? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd like to know.

Hmmm, I would have no idea. Know any vintage collectors who grade a lot who have quality scans Maybe you can spot the printer's spot and see what kind of surface grades they may score. Best of luck! Wish I could help out more.Jhonas Enroth Card Collector & Host of the Hidden Content
