Looking for a trade partner from US
Hi guys,
It has become more and more difficult in my opinion to make good deal on eBay for canadians. The global shipping program is sometime very expensive. For example, a 700 card could cost 40 $ shipping and 50 $ import charges. I am looking for someone from the US who could help me buy some items and send them back to me. I would simply give the item number. If the item is won, I would pay for the item + shipping to you and shipping to me. I can also add a commission that would be a certain % of the money I save.
Please let me know if that is something that you would do.
THanks
Fred

Great idea. I would love that too, but not to take away from you finding someone, in general though, that would be awesome.

Would be happy to help both of you out. I actually do this for another member as well, which saves him a ton on shipping. Feel free to PM me for more details.

Best suggestion I have for this is to add an alternate shipping address to your eBay account and have cards shipped to COMC. They offer a service, COMC Mailboxes, and it drastically reduces the costs for shipping. Other than that, make a couple good friends here in the US that will bid on your behalf and then you just pay them for stuff as you go. Helps a ton and builds bridges in the community.

@RGM81 and @30ranfordfan
How is COMC working out nowadays with the shipping and such. Nothing like bringing a issue to light when a member sent me a message about it.

I'm still using it. I will win a card on eBay, where the shipping to Canada is expensive ($17 USD is usually what I see posted). More often than not, I can have the same card shipped to COMC for under $5..... though I think the processing fees are now up to $3 for COMC to receive it, and load it into my inventory. It's not as cheap as it used to be, but still a good way to save money.
The killer though, particularly with the tariffs that have been applied, is getting them shipped home. I typically wait until I have a larger shipment to send home - and the last couple of times I did that, I actually just had the package sent to a friend near the boarder, and then he brought it to me (talking about a friend who used to own this site, lol!)
Currently I've got 274 items ready to ship. I'd be looking at about $500 to have them shipped to me in Canada right now. Before the tariffs, that same shipment would have cost more like $95 to get here.

Thanks for sharing and it seems reasonable but as you say it would be beneficial to have a U.S. member to help you get your things across the border like you used to have. I had one member and did it for him for a few years as he was always on a cruise seeing the world. I know he has a better half now so I assume she get all the cards LOL. Thanks for sharing and I hope they do away with the tariffs on both sides as it just not good for the hobby in my opinion.
