Everyone knows that Leaf doesn't have any licenses but that doesn't mean you need a team logo or players picture to design a good card. As I like the memorabilia in the card I just can't stop puking from the terrible designs.
This is an example of a good design

This is an example of a bad design, overall look is ok but those fonts are disturbing

I guess I'm paying attention to the design more than just having the card in the personal collection. I would love to have Ronalds Kenins Premiere or The Cup autographed patch card but both of those card designs are efing bad so I guess I wont have those. I have Kenins Artifacts /5 dual patch and logo or something card but it doesn't have autographs which is efing sad. The decisions from Upper Deck sometimes is bad too, like Zach Fucale 15-16 (or 16-17) NHL RC cards, that guy hasn't played any efing game and there are hard signed Future Watch card, Gudlevskis has played 5 games total and hasn't signed his Future Watch card. I can't recall the latest Upper Deck card I have, it could be some OPC 16-17 and that's all.
It's nice to read how traders try to change their approach in collecting more cards they like not just to have them, good for you @30ranfordfan

I think paying attention to the design is huge. Like I was getting at in my other post: Chase 100% of the cards you like, and ignore the ones you don't. I like a lot of the stuff Leaf is making, I don't like some of the stuff. As soon as I got the "need everything" idea out of my head, I've found it a lot easier, and just as much fun as it ever was.
UD has it's issues too, as did Panini when they made hockey. I don't think we're ever going to get someone making cards, that leaves us nothing to complain about. I like to just focus on the "fun" parts, and keep that going.

Have any of you ever opened a box of cards that contained no hits and were told by the company in question so sad so sorry but goodbye. Hint, it wasn't Leaf and you have nothing to complain about. Have a nice day.

Leaf has some awesome vintage memorabilia. Also, some of the new designs in their new Leaf set are awesome.
But, one thing that I hate from Leaf is how they have overdone the low numbered parallels. I hunted the Odjick cards in ITGU. One 8-players card with parallels /20/7/5/3/3/1 and a 12-players card with parallels /5/3/2/1. Honestly, /25/5/1 and /9/1 would have been enough. I've been a completist for my Odjick collection and spent a nice amount of money to get most of these cards, but I didn't got as much excitement as I would have got with more variety in the designs. I think that higher print runs on the easiest version would help bringing in some set collectors.

Fucale played well in the juniors, and there was a hype around him getting drafted by the Habs. But his career didn't turn as well as expected. I spent a nice amount of $$ hunting for his cards in group breaks.

The shield designs could have been better (I still don't mind them though, considering Leaf doesn't have a licence), but the other two I don't mind at all. I wish they included a picture with the shield cards though to bring them to life a bit.Jhonas Enroth Card Collector & Host of the Hidden Content
