Same old chargers ... How sad
The Chargers blew it ... again.
They had a great chance of not only getting Philip Rivers his first MVP trophy, but more importantly for the team and its fans, getting the #1 seed in the AFC Playoffs ... and they blew it.
Jameis Winston AND the Bucs "team" played better ON THE ROAD in Baltimore last week, than Philip Rivers and the Chargers "team" played AT HOME against Baltimore this week ... just a very, very disappointing game by the Chargers all around.
However ... with the Ravens win, it does look like the Steelers will NOT make the playoffs this season, which I predicted last week, but would still be pretty shocking for most ...
PROJECTED AFC PLAYOFF SEEDS:
1. Chiefs
2. Patriots
3. Texans
4. Ravens
5. Chargers
6. Colts
The AFC playoffs should be a blast as I could see ANY of the above 6 teams winning the conference and going to the Super Bowl, even if the Chiefs will be the favorites.

Even if the Chargers won out I don't think Rivers would get the MVP. It has been Mahomes for awhile now. Everyone else was just playing for second.

I agree that MVP is Mahomes to lose.
I plan to scream at the Chargers all Sunday, so no sympathy from me.

Mahomes SHOULD DEFINITELY win both MVP AND OPOY ... Aaron Donald DPOY, Matt Nagy COY, Andrew Luck CPOY, Saquon Barkley OROY, Derwin James DROY.
I enjoyed watching the real first playoff game of the year, Colts v Titans ... and was thrilled to see the Colts win as I'm really excited to see Luck in the playoffs again!

Sorry, but Bradley Chubb is probably going to win DROY.

Top three candidates for DROY would be (in no particular order):
Darius Leonard, LB Colts - 15 games, 163 tackles (led NFL), 7 sacks, 2 INTs, 4 forced fumbles, 8 passes defended, 8 QB hits
Bradley Chubb, LB Broncos - 16 games, 60 tackles, 12 sacks, 0 INTs, 2 forced fumbles, 1 pass defended, 21 QB hits
Derwin James, SS Chargers - 16 games, 105 tackles, 3 INTs, 0 forced fumbles, 13 passes defended, 6 QB hits
Personally I think Leonard's variety of numbers carries him above the competition.

I haven't been following the Colts, but with this bit of information, I would have to concur that Darius Leonard has a VERY good shot at taking home the hardware. Oh well, just glad the Broncos have someone to pair with Von Miller! :)

Chubb, Derwin and Leonard are all absolutely deserving of the DROY award ... personally I think Chubb had the most impressive "individual season" but I think Derwin may win the award thanks to being on the best team of the three and maybe getting the most media exposure ... we'll see what happens but any of those three guys would be deserving and all three look like future super stars!
