Who scored Detroit's first-ever goal?
HI folks.
I'm compiling a list of players who scored the first-ever goal for each NHL team.
The only one I haven't found out is Detroit. They changed their name from "Falcons" to "Red Wings" in 1932.
I'm hoping someone can help me. Who scored the first goal for the team after the name change to Red Wings?
For some reason, I keep thinking it was Larry Aurie but I'm not sure.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony

Looking quickly at the NHL.com historic records, it looks like Frank Carson scored with an assist from Aurie.

Thanks for finding this out! The NHL site is such a clusterf*** that I don't understand how to navigate it. I don't bother using it.
I don't think Frank (or Francis) Carson has a rookie card though, so I might have to go with Aurie and say that he assisted on the first-ever Red Wings goal.

Tony,
Good luck bud. Seriously! I searched 5 minutes, but all I could find was that Frank Carson is actually Reginald Francis Carson. His Rookie Year was 1926 with the Montreal Maroons. He retired in 1934. I have not however, found a record of ANY cards of his existing.Always looking for Senators cards! Must be a draft pick, or the card is identifiable as a Senators card before I want it!
As most of you know, I suffered a fairly severe stroke in April '25, so mail goes out anytime!

I've looked up the Trading Card Database and Beckett (say what you want, they keep good records of what is, and is not, a rookie card), and tried every combination of his name. Nothing. Looks like I'll stick with Larry Aurie, who assisted on the first goal. Close enough!
