Man, trying to buy a Gretzky RC, Roy Rookie and Lemieux Rookie is pretty difficult Topps or OPC
When it comes to trying to buy these cards, BV goes right out the window... Even if they're beat to hell...
Thankfully I found a Lemieux Rookie, the seller had a Topps listed at $129.00 and claimed to be the first and only owner and claimed he had it since he was a "kid". the sellers ebay rating was high enough for me to trust his story. And the card didn't look too bad, it's a little o/c as you will see below. Anyway, the seller was taking "offers" so I shot him an off of $40.00 - I mean I had nothing to lose and he accepted the offer.... So I was thrilled about that. Outside of the centering the corners look to be pretty much perfect, but the card appears to be in one of those 1 inch think screw-down holders, so we'll see when it gets here, but so far it looks like a steal to me - especially when VG-EX Lemieux RC's are going for $70.00 to $100.00.... Obviously I haven't seen the card yet in person but just by eyeballing it - the card appears to be in Ex-Mt, and if it wasn't for the centering I would call it NM... If it was centered would certainly be a PSA worthy card.

Now, for the last 2 days I've been trying to buy a Patrick Roy RC - and unlike the Lemieux - sellers don't want to budge...
I mean check these ebay auctions/listings out - it's madness:
- This seller takes the cake, he wouldn't budge off of $49.99 for an OPC Roy Rookie that's in in profoundly poor condition: https://www.ebay.com/itm/193226551968?ul_noapp=true
- This seller wants $149 for this OPC Roy RC in VG https://www.ebay.com/itm/Patrick-Roy...e/322500460691
- Then you got this seller - he wont budge past $120.00 and again - a VG card: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Patrick-Roy...59.m2763.l2649
- I still have a couple more Roy OPC's RC's that I'm chasing, and hopefully I'll win one today or tomorrow.
Oh and then you have this OPC Messier rookie which the seller wants $18.00 for - sounds like a good deal right? well checkout the card: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1980-81-O-P...9/133394930857
- But I have been keeping my eye on this Gretzky roookie - yea, it's not very pretty but if I can get it for less than $100 (hopefully $75-80) I will be happy:

Personally, I wouldn't buy any of those cards if they were not slabbed. Too many fakes out there.
I get that cost is an concern - but I'd rather buy a PSA 1 Gretzky, than an unslabbed one that looks to be in nicer shape for the same price.

That was my immediate reaction as well. But...are there a lot of Topps counterfeits? If I was going to fake one, I'd fake the OPC.

I just got the card today, took it out of the screw down, examined it and it's absolutely legit - I think it was just his camera, because I sometimes too have similar issues with pics... That and the screw-down had a few scratches on it and they cast a shadow on the card......
Also, the seller had a 10,000+ ebay rating and he claims this he originally pulled this card and owned it ever since...
I'll post a pic of the card when my phone is charged, it's a pretty nice card - especially for $20.00.

got it today, took it out of the screw-down, felt it, looked at it and even smelled the back of it and it smells like a Topps card.. And the surface is perfect... I may get it slabbed but the centering is 30/70 L/R and 40/60 T/B, but I'm concerned the centering (being the only flaw) would grade the card out to a 7.5, despite the card essentially being pack fresh.
All of the concerns with the original picture were really the result of the camera and the shadows from the scratches on the screw-down...
The card is almost perfect with the exception of the centering - I mean it's pack fresh... If the card was centered it would be an easy PSA 9..... And the crazy thing is the guy wanted something like 129.99 or 149.99 for it and I offered $20 bucks and he took it......... This is an absolute steal... The card books at $120.00 but we all know you're not sniffing a Lemieux RC Topps or OPC in ex-mint for anything less than $80-$90 raw.

If you say you paid $20 in both your last posts, does that equal the $40 you said you paid in your original post? Nice card though, for either price.
