    Hobby box or Retail?

I usually buy retail boxes (i'm a set builder).

This year I was thinking of buying a hobby box instead but i'm not sure. Based on youtube hobby box breaks it doesn't seem like the hobby exclusive inserts are worth the extra price the vast majority of the time.

    what do you wall think?

I'm a set builder myself but I still gravitate towards hobby boxes particularly at release date when hobby & retail prices aren't drastically different. I still enjoy the allure of possibly hitting a numbered YG and I think odds of hitting mem/autos are slightly better in hobby boxes. I think most people that buy S1/S2 only care about YG's so it makes sense to stick with retail especially when both options still offer 6 YG's per box. I'll typically buy retail boxes about a year after initial release when the price difference is much more significant and I'm still chasing those few YG's I need to finish my set. For example, 17-18 S1 retail can be had for around $40CDN these days whereas a hobby box is more than double that. Hard to justify buying a hobby box at that price discrepancy.

Which product are you looking at? Depending on what you're thinking of, there's a pretty significant gap between the value of a hobby box and a retail box. For something like Series 1 & 2, the chance at an Exclusives, Clear Cut, or one of the case hit inserts definitely adds some value to your break potential. With a retail box, you're pretty much limited to the hits that are explicitly stated--which can be fine if that's what you want--but there are some nice surprises at the hobby level.

Yeah what product are you thinking about buying? Some brands are good for retail while others are basically stay away depending on what you are looking for from them.

I was talking about UD series 1 which comes out in about a month

Based on my observations it seems like Hobby boxes cost about 40 bucks more than retail boxes

unless i'm shopping in the wrong place?

Ya I assumed you were talking S1/S2 in which case I find retail is good value. Not so much other products. For example, Artifacts retail is terrible value.

the whole Blasters, Retail, Hobby having different odds and costs is just silly...i myself normally just buy retail boxes since my supposed hits with hobby boxes are pretty bland if u want the hits u need to buy a case....which i only need 1-3 boxes to build a set....so no

I usually buy one retail box, one blaster, and 3-6 fat packs

I'll probably pick 3 blasters on the walmart.ca black friday sale. Just enough to have free shipping.

Do you ever randomly get blaster that have the exact same packs card per card? except of course the insertsi have many a time where several blasters base cards are in identical packs
